Ali and Rich were each out with their friends at their favorite bar in downtown Tucson, Hifi Kitchen Cocktails, enjoying the two-for-one drink special that college students loved every Thursday night. Their groups of friends ended up chatting together, and one of Richs friends leaned over to Ali and said, “I think my friend likes you" looking at Rich. Ali thought it was a bit odd, but decided to strike up a conversation with Rich, and they immediately clicked. As the night went on, it came up that one of Rich’s friends was from Germany. Ali and her friend, Lena, perked up at this news thinking that they had met some foreign men. Ali then asked Rich if he was from Germany too, and he replied with a grin, “Yes, and cheers to Germany” raising his glass with his friends. The night ended on a sweet note, thinking they both felt they had met someone special. The next day, Ali called to tell her mom that she had met a sweet guy from Germany. Shortly after the call, Rich sent Ali a long text message explaining that he wasn’t actually from Germany—he was from Pennsylvania! Despite the silly white lie, they agreed to a first date at the Blue Willow on Campbell Avenue in Tucson. From that time on, their connection only grew stronger, enjoying every moment and creating new life experiences together.
