How We Met

"Who are they and why are they in our spot?"

On a chilly winter night in Riyadh, we headed to our usual hangout place, eager to relax after a tough week of teaching. To our dismay, we found our spot occupied by a bunch of nurses! How rude! I blurted out, "Who the heck are they and why are they in our spot?" I didn't realize that my words would catch the ear of the man who would become my husband. Richard wondered, "How can I talk to this woman?" and kept stealing glances at me, which didn't go unnoticed by our friends. So, Richard's friend Claire and my friend Jamie decided to play matchmakers and pushed Richard to sit next to me. We hit it off right away, talking about books, music, life, and even meeting Adonis the snake. Richard finally gathered the courage to ask for my number. We texted for a few days until he awkwardly invited me to dinner. I admit, I made him sweat a bit (just for fun, lol) but I said yes. I was curious to see what this Irish guy was all about. That first date ignited a spark, and we kept dating...for the next six years.

Question

What kind of weather should I expect in Florida during June-July?

Answer

The Sunshine State gets its nickname because of its year-long warm weather and vast number of sunny days. However, it is also known for its humidity and rain. June marks the start of the 5 month-long hurricane season. It is important to be prepared when visiting. Bring (or purchase on-site) sunscreen to protect your skin from sunburn, hats, caps, and yes, you guessed correctly...umbrellas. Also, it is important to purchase mosquito repellent. Brands like "OFF!" and Earth Kind's "Stay away mosquitoes" amongst others seem to work well.

Question

What if it rains the day of the wedding?

Answer

Our wedding is indeed planned as a garden event. In the event we experience rain on the day of the venue has promise an indoor option to keep us dry, so no worries.

Question

What kind of clothing should I pack for a Florida vacay?

Answer

Shorts, T-shirts, light breathy shirts and blouses, summer dresses, hats, comfy sandals, flip flops, and sneakers are your best choices. Most places in Florida are very informal and relaxed. Ah, and don't forget to bring your sunglasses! Trust me, you'll need them.

Question

Aside from the theme parks what else is there to do with the kids in or near Orlando?
