The love story of Ramona and Greg’s began on the day they met. The location was Precita Park in Bernal Heights, San Francisco. The date was Tuesday, November 6, 2018. As usual, there was a crowd of people as the park is a big social scene for the dogs and their human owners. For Greg, out of nowhere, this beautiful woman appears. The very first moment he saw her. He’ll never forget it. She appeared, dressed in jeans and knee-high boots. With her cute little white pug running around by her side. It was her style, a certain je ne sais quoi about her...it was an indefinable, elusive, and appealing quality that cannot be adequately described or expressed. This is what stood out. There was a jump and bounce in her stride that drew him in, the way she sashayed across the lawn with such cuteness and confidence. Joie de vivre (joy of life) surrounded her. It truly was a sight to behold. She was someone special, he could just tell. For Ramona, the experience was similar. Here comes this good-looking guy joining a conversation with her friend. He was kind, polite, and well-educated...and he was Italian. She liked that. She had just been to Italy the month before and had fallen in love with Italian culture and its people. He had quickly caught her eye. Just as she had quickly caught his. Make no mistake about it. The scene was set. The stars were lit. Destiny surrounded the air. At that time neither of them were, shall we say, on the lookout for anything or anyone new in their lives. But the instant they started chatting each had become mesmerized. If you do, this may be something you will regret for the rest of your life. So, he did not leave yet. Somehow, the subject of a mutual birthday celebration for him and Maia came up. Which was a bit silly, since it was November and still a far way off from July. Nonetheless, they both liked the idea and jumped at the chance for a second meeting. They realized they had not exchanged names yet. He told her his name was Greg. She told him her name was Ramona. He thought it was a little too forward or impolite to be asking for her number. So he offered her his phone number. She ended up offering her number anyway. It has been Ramona’s kindness, cleverness, humility, and spontaneous and contagious ability to laugh, those qualities that attract Greg to her.
