On our first date we discussed our mutual goal of visiting Sicily someday. Two years later we shared the trip of a lifetime exploring Sicily together; the place of our engagement! On July 19th we frantically made our way from our first stop in Taormina (a total dream) to our next stop in Ragusa. A few pit stops along the way had us making a trip to the Catania airport to attempt to retrieve our lost luggage (unsuccessful), and then to the Catania shopping mall to buy some much needed clothing and toiletries. We arrived just before sunset at our beautiful hotel in Ragusa where we quickly got ourselves ready to start heading down to the old town in search of Giardini Ibleo- a charming garden with sweeping views of the city. We stumbled upon a fortress overlooking this magical fountain which offered the perfect and private views of Ragusa. Naturally, we stopped to take some photos, which then turned into the most special and surprising proposal! After sharing the news with our families, we celebrated at a quaint restaurant we found tucked away in the side streets of the city where we were gifted with a bottle of prosecco and lots of congratulatory Sicilian cheek kisses.
