We met on our Mineralogy Class camping trip to Linville Falls, NC, and as you can imagine, it was "in tents". Peter walked up behind me and asked if I needed help "cutting the cheese". Clearly, a well spoken man. Six months later we went on our field geology course out West, and whether it was severe dehydration, or love, that overtook us, it rocked either way! After college, we went in search of our paths. I had several internships, worked in restaurants, and taught in Atlanta, and Peter worked for the Department of Natural Resources, helping restore oyster populations along the coast. Eventually I moved back to Charleston, we bought a fixer upper, and become the proud parents of 3 baby chickens (Winifred, Gertrude, and Shirley Hazel). During all this I earned my Masters in Environmental Studies and Peter moved up through the ranks at SCDNR. We continued to love oysters, and eventually Charleston Oyster Farm was formed. Through several hurricanes, legal battles, and business ups and downs, our relationship became a partnership, and we couldn't be happier that it's finally becoming official!
WE plan to celebrate our love with an intimate ceremony and a series of small events, instead of one big wedding as many of our friends and family are spread all over. We hope you can join us in celebrating whatever event is most convenient for you, and please stay tuned for more details to come!
You guessed it! Bali! Our best friend Chelsea Heidt, who in fact married us just a few short weeks ago, spent some time traveling around Indonesia and gave us the idea for Bali. Peter loves surfing and diving, and I love watching peter surf and diving ;)! The plans are not set in stone, but we will spend a few days in Singapore then head to Bali for 2 weeks! We have always wanted to travel and explore exotic places, and it is our love and dream of this lifestyle that brought us together. However, things somehow always get in the way, and before we knew it, we had a fixer upper house, the first oyster farm in Charleston, 3 chickens, an airbnb, and after the proposal a fixer upper sailboat to go with it! Clearly we don't mind hard work, but we've still been holding on to that dream of exploring the world and tasting life! With limited time and resources it's been a challenge to make this dream come true, which is why in lieu of gifts, we have started a Honeymoon FUNd. Help us celebrate our love and commitment to one another with a trip of a life time that will make our dreams a reality! And I promise...we'll remember to post pictures!
