Jaimie and Daniel met at Clarklake where both their parents had summer cottages. Their paths occasionally crossed but they didn't hang out often. At 16, one night on the boat, Jaimie thought Daniel was cute and went in for a kiss. Sparks were not flying for Daniel that night so they agreed to go back to being friends. They continued to hang out the next few years until the Summer of 2017. On July 4th, the tables turned and Daniel started liking Jaimie. He went in for a 4th of July kiss, but unlike the fireworks, the sparks weren't flying for Jaimie this time. She was living in Chicago, and he was in Jackson, and logistically it just didn't make sense. At the end of the summer, Jaimie asked Daniel to be her date for a friends wedding. They had so much fun that night together. Later that night, Daniel mentioned that he was going to Washington D.C. that weekend for work and told Jaimie she should come (alcohol may have been involved). A few days later, back in Chicago, Jaimie called Daniel and asked if the offer was still on the table. It was. Jaimie booked a flight that night and flew out the next morning. That weekend they had a blast together and agreed it went by too fast. They decided to both miss their flights home and spend one last day together. It was then, that the sparks finally flew for both of them, and they have been a couple ever since.
To start, I want to mention that Daniel was not pressured at all by Jaimie to propose (kidding) He did however manage to surprise her. Jaimie and Daniel had planned to go meet friends for a drink in Grand Haven on an August night. Daniel had mentioned they should go early and do a hike that Jaimie loved near there (this should have been her first sign). She assumed he was being nice to her since her birthday week was coming up so she went with it. They got ready and Daniel seeing Jaimie in workout clothes (what else do you wear hiking) mentioned the place they were going for drinks later was nice so she should change. Begrudgingly Jaimie changed and in a dress and flip flops walked the trail with a cooler of drinks on her back. The hike leads to a secluded beach where they sat and enjoyed the beautiful weather. As the sun began to set, Jaimie mentioned they should probably head back to meet their friends. A few seconds later Daniel got down on one knee and asked Jaimie to spend their lives together. Shocked Jaimie happily accepted. It was the perfect moment with just the two of them, a beautiful sunset, and Lake MI which is something they will both always remember.
