We had known of each other throughout college at Ole Miss, but it wasn't until the very end of our senior year that we connected. We mean the verrry end... It was Double Decker weekend in Oxford, and we were out Friday night on the Square. We were hanging out in our big group of friends when Hunter asked Lauren if she wanted to dance... If you've seen Hunter on the dance floor, you know the rest is history :) We spent the next two weeks "running into each other" on the Square celebrating our final year in Oxford. After a bit of convincing, we went on our first date the Thursday before we graduated on Saturday. On Sunday we started a long distance relationship from southern Mississippi to central Illinois. Five months of dating long distance later, Hunter moved to St. Louis, and Lauren joined him shortly after. Since moving to St. Louis, we have shared many great memories and grown up together after college. We can't wait to see what this next chapter holds!
It was mid-April and Lauren got house fever. After much convincing, Hunter agreed, and the house hunting process was in full force. We spent the next three months touring houses and dreaming about our lives together in them. FINALLY.... we found the perfect house, and our offer was accepted. With a ring he had had since March, Hunter realized exactly when he would propose. It was July 10th, our closing date, and what should have been our soon-to-be engagement date. Hunter had planned to have family gathered to celebrate the backyard proposal he envisioned. July 10th came around, and Lauren received the news that she had tested positive for COVID-19. Little did she know, while she was fretting about her plans for work the next week, her dream proposal was being rescheduled behind the scenes. The engagement was quickly postponed after her quarantine was over so we could still celebrate with family and friends. Hunter had planned a backyard picnic and, instead of enjoying our dinner, he got down on one knee. Family was there to surprise her, and the rest of the night was spent celebrating. This pandemic has postponed and canceled many things, but in-light of it all, we have been reminded what is truly important: our family, friends, our health, and our love for one another. We are so blessed and thankful to have each other throughout this crazy time and cannot wait to celebrate with the people who matter most.
