Zach and Katie met through a mutual friend while attending graduate school earning their PhDs at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. A serendipitous meet cute, they met at Trim Tab one random weeknight in January 2018 (with Jessica and Thad) and then did not reconnect until they went on their first date April 23, 2018. Zach proposed to Katie on February 15, 2020 at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens in front of hundreds of people (Zach did not know it was open admission day) that was followed by an after party with close friends and family.
