Dalayna and Akeda's love story begins with the theater and food. Dalayna and Akeda knew each other from the WashU Black community, but they didn't become good friends until their senior and junior years, respectively, when they were acting in a play together. After many nights running lines and Dalayna coming over to nap, Akeda saw Dalayna in a new light...and some new leggings. It was then, he knew he must have her! In an effort to woo her, Akeda would bring Dalayna and her roommate Maya Insomnia cookies. Dalayna was initially oblivious to his efforts, but with time she began to warm up to him. Akeda was good-looking and always put a smile on her face. It also didn't hurt that his locs were now a respectable length. She thought why not give him a chance! Though they had a lot of fun together, their dalliance was short-lived. After Dalayna graduated, they decided it was best for them to just be friends. Though they were no longer romantic, their friendship continued to flourish. They watched tons of Game of Thrones, had many prank wars, and ate Chik-fil-a every Wednesday. Time went by, and God presented them the opportunity to try again. What they now consider their first date happened at the St. Louis Renaissance Fair. Over turkey legs, jousting tournaments, and several mugs of beer, they fell even more in like with one another. That was October 14, 2017, the day they chose for their anniversary. From there, Dalayna and Akeda knew it was meant to be. They overcame long-distance while Dalayna attended business school, and late nights while Akeda worked at the studio. Through these trials, their love matured and strengthened. On September 2, 2020, in the midst of the global pandemic, Akeda proposed to Dalayna over a romantic dinner in the home. By the time Dalayna and Akeda get married, they would have been together for 5 years. They can't wait to write the next chapter of their story and share the start of this journey with you.
