Kelly and Spencer met at a hastily arranged practice for a "mandatory" tournament of volleyball that promised to cement their names in Yale athletic history (It's kind of a big deal). It started raining. A downpour - just like in the movies! She put his phone in her purse to protect it from the rain, and their fate was sealed. Since then, they've gone to countless classes together, spent late nights in theaters, caught things on fire, put fires out, traveled through Germany and Switzerland, moved to New Jersey, learned to sail, done some fishing, and adopted the best dog in the whole world, Mila.
The Fells is the gorgeous estate of former Secretary of State John Milton Hay. He held office under both President McKinley and Teddy Roosevelt and was Abraham Lincoln's personal secretary! It is also the location where Kelly and her Maid of Honor Julia went to summer camp (GO MALLARDS!) The Fells is popular during all seasons. Kelly and Spencer regularly snowshoe on the grounds in the winter and go for hikes throughout the nature trails on the ground in the warmer months. From TheFells.org: The Fells, named after Hay's ancestral Scotland, is situated on a hillside in Newbury, NH and overlooks scenic Lake Sunapee. It was on these shores that John and his wife, Clara Louise Stone, sought refuge from public life and in 1888 Hay quietly began acquiring abandoned farms that would eventually total nearly 1,000 acres. All in all, the Fells is an extraordinary, special place and one of the many treasures of Kelly's hometown. Please be respectful and help us keep this special place as nice as we left it!
