Jackie was living in Champaign, Illinois in a dating desert, dreaming of a post-vet school life in Atlanta. She decided to check out the online dating scene in Atlanta during her final year of vet school. She came across Matthew's profile, and was impressed by all of the things they had in common--she was in vet school, his dream was to purchase a doggie day care; they both shared a love of Tripel Karmeleit, they had both climbed Mount Kilimanjaro etc. Jackie quickly messaged Matthew to notify him that she would be deleting her online dating profile, and if he wanted to contact her he would have to email. They then emailed back and forth for two months until Jackie suggested Matthew buy her dinner while she was passing through Atlanta on an externship. Matthew set up the perfect first date at the then hottest restaurant in the country on Jackie's birthday. Matthew ordered the whole menu, and while the food was great, the company was better <3
We decided to spend Labor Day weekend in Montauk, NY where Jackie had spent many childhood summers. Upon arrival, after checking in to our bed and breakfast, we headed down to the beach to relax. Soon after, a giant humback whale leapt out of the ocean to feed for several minutes. We later found out that this means a momentous life event is about to occur! Later Matthew told Jackie he would like to visit the light house, Matthew suggested they take a selfie in front, when a woman standing nearby with a professional camera offered to take a picture and send it to them later. While she was photographing them, Matthew knelt down and asked Jackie to marry him. Jackie was so surprised and escited! Then Lisa followed them around for a sunset engagement photo shoot. Matthew and Jackie went to celebrate at the Harvest, one of Jackie's favorite restaurants. Their family had even called ahead to have dinner and champagne waiting for them!
