On July 9th 2021, a couple of Jess' friends flew to Dallas to celebrate her birthday. Unbeknownst to Jess, Dan had planned the whole weekend for the proposal, secretly inviting her parents, sister, and several of their good friends, while using her birthday as misdirection. On Friday, Jess threw a big party at the house and invited 10-15 friends over to celebrate her birthday. By 2 AM the group was 20+ bottles deep and Dan began to worry about how they'd feel the next day. Unsurprisingly, Saturday morning was rough and Dan went to play golf with his Uncle, brother, and nephews, while Jess and her friends had brunch and ordered themselves in-home massages. Fast forward to 4PM, the group (Jess, her friends and Dan) were getting ready to go out. On the Uber ride to the "first stop of the night", Jess recalled that Dan was acting a little strange, texting on his phone. He was trying to coordinate with his parents, Jess' family, and the other friends that flew in to make sure they knew where to go. Once they got to the wine bar and ordered a round of drinks, Dan got up to go to the bathroom. "Coincidentally" his brother text and asked him to meet him outside to give him the house keys. Since Dan had to go to the bathroom, he asked Jess to meet his brother outside. As she walked outside to meet Dan's brother, she saw her parents, sister, Dan's family, and friends from NY, LA, and Dallas all standing outside. She turned around and Dan was on one knee.
