How We "Met"

Minneapolis Miracle - January 14th, 2018

The night the Minnesota Vikings beat the New Orleans Saints in the NFC semifinals was when Josh and I first "met." Josh was living in Omaha at the time and I was in Denver because of school. Josh and I both grew up Minnesota Vikings fans and oddly enough, we had some mutual friends as well. Some how Josh came across my profile on Instagram months prior to the game and followed me. We had been following each other for a while, but that is all it ever was besides a few likes and comments on each others photos. Now, fast forward to January 14th, 2018. The night started like any other game night, hanging with friends and family, enjoying some food and drinks, hoping the Vikings didn't let us down like they always do. It was a nail-biting game that ended up coming down to the very last play. There were 10 seconds left in the game and the Vikings needed an answered prayer to have a shot at winning. Keenum threw a seemingly normal pass to Stefon Diggs but the safety for the Saints missed the tackle, which allowed him to score a touchdown to end the game. Vikings Win. The Minneapolis Miracle was born. Both of us were going nuts, 500 miles apart from each other. But that wasn't the end of the excitement for the night. Of course right when the Vikings won, I had to check Instagram to see all my friends back home posting about it. Not only did my friends post about the win, but Josh had done the same. I replied to his post and that is when it all started.

The Rest Is History

Over the next few months, Josh and I continued to talk off and on through Instagram. It was mostly small talk, getting to know each other a little bit, but still nothing serious. Within that stretch of time, Josh made the decision that he was going to move out to Denver that summer. One of his best friends from college, one of our mutual friends, had been trying to convince Josh to move out to Denver ever since they graduated. That spring, Josh finally decided that it was the time to make the move. By June, we had been DMing for 6 long months. After a month of Josh living in Denver, he finally asked for my number and a week later we decided to meet up. I decided to bring my roommate/friend along because I had to make sure he was real and not a creeper ;). We met up at Torchy's for some tacos and margs, and after that "date," I knew I wanted to do it again, next time just the two of us. We started hanging out and going on dates a bit more frequently over the next couple months, getting to know each other, and on September 5th Josh officially became my boyfriend. We've had our fair share of ups and downs since then, but we have never stopped loving and fighting for each other. After a year and a half of making memories together, Josh decided it was time to switch my title from girlfriend to fiancé. He popped the question on December 14th, 2019, after an eventful date night in Downtown Denver. Now we are trying to plan the biggest day of our lives, one that we can't wait to celebrate with all of you.
