Technically we met each other 13 years ago or so give or take not entirely sure of dates lol. Her family started attending the church that I was already attending. We were in the same young adults class called crossroads. We don’t have an exact date when we first met but it was sometime in 2008. We have pictures of us standing next to each other at activities. I had been to her parents house for pizza nights several times, and Allison was friends with my sisters. As time went on Gary (Allison’s Dad) had become my mentor and friend to talk to about life’s struggles. In 2019 Allison moved across the street from me. It was only from Gary honking the horn when he left, then texting me to say that was him helping Allison move in that I knew she lived so close. Even living across the street from each other our paths didn’t really cross. Until one fateful day on Dec 9th when Allison’s car needed a jumpstart on a cold morning. Gary texted me saying her car needed a jump and asked would I do it? I happily obliged because Allison had always been really nice and my sister’s friend for years. I gave her car a quick jumpstart and we caught up for a few minutes and then she was off to work. We exchanged numbers just in case it happened again. As a way to say thank you for being her knight in a rusty 26 year old Jeep with a loud exhaust she made me cookies.....snickerdoodles my favorite. She made me the cookies and I thanked her and we went back to our respected sides of the street. The cookies were really good by the way. Fast forward to Christmas when I just sent a simple Merry Christmas and she replied in kind and that was that until later that night. When Allison noticed I had not cleaned the snow off anything and appeared I had not left. Her just being neighborly and checking in asking how was I doing? That was really the start of the conversation that has never stopped to this day. There is so much more to this story but we have run out of space.
