How We Met

12.14.14

Love in the digital age knows no boundaries - and thank goodness for that! At the time we met, Ali was living in Southie, and Eric on the North Shore. We met through mutual friends on a dating app, as we were both convinced by our friends to try it out, because "everybody is doing it". Immediately the conversations felt natural and we decided to meet in real life! We planned a lunchtime day date, Saturday December 14th of 2014. We ordered the exact same meal, from beer to sandwich, and the conversation flowed from our mutual love for the ocean, to how close we are with our families, and everything in between. We realized we had so much in common - our love of being on the water, our family ties, we were both history majors, and New England sports die-hards. By the end of lunch, it was clear we wanted to spend more time together. As we parted ways to go to our respective holiday parties that night, we already planned our next date that week. Fast forward two years later and Eric was "rescuing" ( ha! Eric's words...) Ali from Southie to move to Salem together. Our love story has included so many wonderful memories so far - from nights in Southie, adventures on Nantucket, countless Cape & North Shore weekends on the water, and surviving 3 Salem Halloweens! We feel so blessed to have found our perfect match in each other, and can't wait for the future!

How He Proposed

08.17.18

We already knew we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together - all that was left was a ring to seal the deal! On that fateful Friday in August, Eric suggested they go out on the boat for a quick cruise before dinner. This was nothing out of the ordinary, as we both jump at any time on the water together. As we cruised out and around Salem Harbor, Ali noticed Eric hadn’t brought any fishing rods - which, if you know Eric, is very odd. In hindsight that should have been a tip off, but at the time Ali was just happy to be in the moment and let the thought pass. When we got to the middle of the harbor Eric stopped the boat, and Ali got up off the seat to look around at the sunset and storm rolling in. When she turned back around to Eric, he was holding a gorgeous ring and proposing they spend the rest of their lives together. We hugged, we cried, we FaceTimed our families, and then we cruised full speed ahead back to shore to avoid the thunderstorms. Truly the best night!
