The Proposal

May 4th 2024

Raoul and I went to the Virgin Islands with my Uncle Doyle in May, just as we had done the previous year. Only, this time, it was extra special for two reasons: My sister Kenadee joined the adventure, and I was about to experience the surprise of a lifetime. We all sailed to the British Virgin Islands and went to explore a natural wonder called "The Baths”. At this geological site, there are essentially boulders and shallow-water caves that you can climb and crawl through. It's truly difficult to describe just how beautiful the experience is. As we got to a big rock and were ready to jump into the water below, Raoul took my breath away more than the views that surrounded us. He got down on one knee, and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. Of course, I screamed and then ugly cried, all while trying to say, “YES!” We made the jump into the water (don't worry, the ring was not swallowed by the sea), and swam back to the yacht. We celebrated the rest of the trip, and though that moment and memory will always fill me with joy, I have no doubt our wedding day will be one of the happiest days of my life. Cheers to taking the jump together into the next chapter!

Question

What is The Stamp Mill?

Answer

The Stamp Mill is a historic mining site from the 1800's. A stamp mill is a large machine that would crush material like rock and ore to extract valuable metals, minerals or materials. The stamps (or pestles) are iron or steel tools that consist of a shaft (stem) with metal shoes on the bottom that are lifted and dropped onto the ore. The synchronized pounding motion turned the ore into a fine gravel, where gold is then panned and washed from the debris. (Cave Creek is known for gold, silver, copper, onyx and jasper, which are forms of quartz, and more. You can learn more about the specific stamp mill process at the Cave Creek Museum, where you can also see a demonstration in the cooler months.) Over time, this specific and historic stamp mill location was transformed into what you see today, using salvaged leftovers from the mining operation as building materials. The black stone rectangles in the middle of the patio were part of a base that supported the mill. The site overlooks Cave Creek and has breathtaking mountain views. The Stamp Mill is part of a conservation area, and therefore, it is protected and respected. You strike gold when you're at The Stamp Mill! A website is coming soon if you'd like to learn more about the rich mining history and to book your next event.

Question

Since it's a non-smoking venue, if I have to smoke, where do I go?

Answer

The Stamp Mill is non-smoking to preserve and protect its historical significance. If you need to smoke, please go up to the Spur Cross Parking lot, and please carefully discard. As you know, Arizona is very dry, and since this site is surrounded by natural vegetation, there cannot be any sparks because those can turn into a wildfire. So, please use caution and care.

Question

Is this an outdoor venue?

Answer

Yes! The ground consists of mostly desert rock and dirt. So, please plan your shoes accordingly.

Question

Is there a cash bar or an open bar?

Answer

Drinks are on us! We are offering two margarita bar stations, in addition to a bar to make other cocktails. We will also have water available.

Answer

During cocktail hour, we will offer chips and salsa, quesadillas, mini flautas and mini tinga empanadas. For dinner, we are offering steak, chicken or pork tacos. For dessert, we will provide churros, and of course, wedding cake!
