How They Met

9/19/24

Like many modern love stories, Nick and Jordan’s began with a simple message on a dating app. Their first conversation started when Nick asked Jordan about the best book she had read that year. He then suggested that she read 'The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue'—and, in a bit of serendipity, she happened to be reading that very book at the moment. From then on, their connection was instant. They quickly discovered a shared love of thoughtful stories, good conversation, eccentric questions, and—somewhat unexpectedly—the television show 'Survivor'. For their first date, they had planned to meet for sushi; however, as luck would have it, Nick got stuck at work and had to cancel. Still, he couldn’t let the evening pass without meeting her, so they decided to meet at a nearby dog park (with Norman) after he got off work. What was meant to be a quick, casual introduction turned into an evening neither of them wanted to end. Under the quiet glow of the park lights, conversation came effortlessly—and it was clear that something special had begun. From that night on, their story has been one of love, laughter, adventure, and partnership. What started with a shared book recommendation has grown into a life they can’t wait to continue building together—along with their three cats and golden retriever, of course.

Urban and sophisticated, yet welcoming to all, Louisville is filled with surprises. Whiskey Row is alive with new distilleries and tasting rooms, and emerging neighborhoods like NuLu bring an artistic bent to the city’s rebirth. You’ll find inventive dining, hotels from historic to fashion forward, and a wealth of memorable experiences from the home of Louisville Slugger to famed Churchill Downs.

Visit one of the many local parks

Louisville, KY

Louisville is home to and entire park system designed by Frederick Olmsted (most famous for his work on Central Park in NYC, the US Capitol Grounds, and the Biltmore estate). Olmsted’s greatest achievement, however, was his concept of creating a system of parks connected to tree-lined parkways, instead of freestanding parks as was the common practice. His concept was most fully realized in Louisville, the ultimate park system of his career, and one of only four completed such Olmsted systems in the world.

Food and Drinks

Louisville has an incredible food and drink scene with something for everyone — from upscale restaurants and cozy brunch spots to classic Kentucky bourbon bars and local breweries. Neighborhoods like NuLu and the Highlands are filled with great restaurants, cocktail bars, coffee shops, and live music, making them perfect places to explore during your visit. Whether you’re looking for Southern comfort food, a great bourbon pour, or a fun night out, Louisville has plenty to offer.

Kentucky Science Center

727 West Main Street, Louisville, KY 40202

The Kentucky Science Center is a great family-friendly stop while visiting Louisville, especially for guests traveling with children. Located downtown near the waterfront, the museum features hands-on exhibits, interactive activities, and experiences for all ages to enjoy. It’s a fun and easy way to spend a few hours exploring, learning, and taking a break between wedding festivities.

Historic Bardstown

Just under an hour from Louisville, Bardstown makes for the perfect day trip during your visit. Known as the “Bourbon Capital of the World,” this charming historic town offers beautiful downtown streets, local restaurants, boutique shopping, and several iconic bourbon distilleries. Whether you’re interested in tastings, history, or simply exploring a classic Kentucky small town, Bardstown is well worth the visit.
