Schedule

Here's what to expect during the weekend. We can't wait to celebrate with you!

The Meet Up

7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Eppig Brewing Waterfront Biergarten
2817 Dickens St, San Diego, CA 92106

This event is optional.

For those that are in town and looking to meet up the night before. This is a drop in event to come say "hi" and join us for a beer. A few things to note: This will be on a Friday night in July, so traffic might be a little tough. You may want to give yourself an extra 15 minutes to get to the venue. Eppig doesn't have a designated parking lot, but they recommend street parking along Dickens and neighboring streets or one of the multiple paid lots and metered spots in the area: H&M Landing and Brigantine along Shelter Island Drive. Eppig's last call is at 8:30 pm. Eppig is right on the marina, so you might want to bring something warm in case it gets cold. Eppig is open to people under 21. Here's Eppig's website in case you want to know more: https://www.eppigbrewing.com/waterfront-biergarten

The Wedding

4:00 pm - 10:00 pm

The evening will begin with cocktails, followed by a short ceremony on the lawn.

Dinner, drinks, and dessert will be provided. Karaoke and dancing to wrap the night. Our wedding is semi-formal, however, all guests are encouraged to wear whatever makes them feel their best. Please be aware that there are several lawns on the venue when choosing shoes.

Travel

Suggestions for in and out of towners.

Flight

San Diego International Airport

SAN is a pretty simple airport, located near downtown. They have rental car options but very little in the way of public transport. You'll probably want to plan on using rideshare or calling a taxi if you aren't renting a car.

House Or Rental

Rental Houses

There are lots of Airbnb and VRBO options in San Diego. It is a vacation town, so we recommend looking early before things book up for the summer. Neighborhoods we recommend near the venue: La Jolla, Pacific Beach, Bird Rock, Mission Beach Neighborhoods we recommend that are a bit further away: North Park, University Heights, South Park, Hillcrest All areas have their own vibe and scene. Feel free to reach out if you'd like to know more about each.

Hotel

Hotels

We don't have much personal experience with San Diego hotels, but here are some well-reviewed spots worth checking out. Near the venue: Inn by the Sea, Grande Colonial, Estancia La Jolla Hotel, and Scripps Inn. Further away (rental car recommended): Bahia Resort Hotel, Pacific Terrace Hotel, Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina, The Lafayette Hotel and Club, Hotel del Coronado.

Rental Car

Rides

San Diego is pretty spread out. If you are extending your stay beyond the weekend, or you just want to explore, then you may want to rent a car. Otherwise, rideshares can get you around easily for the weekend.

Travel Note

Venue Parking + Traffic

Parking is available for anyone driving to the venue. A campus parking attendant will be on site to distribute passes and assign you to a lot. There are several small lots to choose from. Please consider parking in the farther lots if you are able to make the walk, leaving the closer lots open for any less-mobile guests. Also, traffic into La Jolla backs up quickly on the weekends. Expect to wait an additional 20-30 minutes in traffic. Please consider leaving early with plenty of time to spare.

Things To Do in San Diego

Any travel website can give you the standard list of "things to do in San Diego". Here's are our personal recommendations...

Triple Crown Pub

3221 Adams Avenue, San Diego, CA 92116

Great dive bar with lots of games and activities. Our drink of choice here: tallboy PBRs.

Dog Beach Ocean Beach

San Diego, CA 92107

Great for dog watching. And people watching. And dog-people watching.

Pizza Port Ocean Beach

1956 Bacon Street, San Diego, CA 92107

Get a pizza, and some garlic buddies for us! Beer is also delightful.

The Lamplighter

817 West Washington Street, San Diego, CA 92103

Warm up you karaoke song here. Good luck remembering it the next day.

National Comedy Theatre

3717 India Street, San Diego, CA 92103

Improv!

Sushi Deli 1

228 West Washington Street, San Diego, CA 92103

Do you like sushi? Do you like not spending a ton of money on sushi? This is the place for YOU

Lahaina Beach House

710 Oliver Court, San Diego, CA 92109

Bring your sunscreen, you'll be drinking outside for a while.

Part Time Lover

3829 30th Street, San Diego, CA 92104

Swanky lil vinyl bar with strong cocktails and stronger vibes.

Balboa Park

San Diego, CA

Beautiful spot to walk around outside. Check out the botanical garden, which just reopened recently (!)

San Diego Whale Watch

1617 Quivira Road, San Diego, CA 92109

Haley used to work here. Please do NOT ask the naturalists if they can "call the whales up to the surface". Thanks!

La Jolla Cove

San Diego, CA 92037

You WILL find this on travel websites, but we're doubling down on it. Rent snorkel gear and get in the water if you have time. Parking sucks here, so be patient!

FAQs

(Hopefully) helpful answers to your questions.
Question

Is this a kid-friendly event?

Answer

We kindly ask that you leave your kids at home for the wedding itself. Children are more than welcome to join for the Friday event.

Question

Is it an open bar?

Answer

Duh.

Question

What's the deal with parking?

Answer

We have access to several parking lots on site. There will be a parking attendant distributing parking passes and assigning you a lot to park in. We have reserved enough spots for everyone at the venue, but some lots are farther than others. Please consider parking in the further lots if you are confidently able to walk the distance, leaving the closer lots for less mobile guests. If you don't want to deal with parking, or want everyone in your party to be able to drink, we recommend using a rideshare app to and from the venue.

Question

Should I be concerned about traffic?

Answer

Yes, traffic traveling into La Jolla is pretty slow on the weekends. Expect to wait an additional 20-30 minutes if you're coming in on the main road. Please allow plenty of extra time to spare for your arrival. If you get there early, you can hang out with us!

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

We want everyone to feel good in what they're wearing so they can focus on having fun. If you'd still like more guidance, we'll say vibrant formal casual.

Question
