Ian and Makayla's love story began on July 1st 2022. They were both volunteering at a church camp serving teens and adults with special needs. Upon meeting each other, the two immediately struck up a conversation about their mutual love for NF. They couldn't stop talking. In fact, the conversation lasted so long that one of the event coordinators asked if they were dating and when someone told her that they had just met that day, she said "they would be cute together." This day began the spark of a friendship that would blossom into an unbreakable bond in the months to follow. In mid-August, Ian and Makayla began texting back and forth and the conversation simply never ended. From detailed dialogues about spiritual convictions, future plans and following Jesus, to laughing about every little thing, the two began to share every detail of life together. In everything they talked about, they always found themselves agreeing, so much so that they began to finish each other's sentences. A common phrase they would text when they "spoke each other's minds" or "finished each other's sentences was "same frequency", a text which was always replied to with the word "always" While they texted all day, every day, for 101 days straight, Ian and Makayla never verbalized romantic interest to each other or viewed their relationship as anything more than the sweetest friendship to cherish. Somewhere in the month of November 2022, they both individually began to wonder, "could this be more than just a friendship?" Due to a series of circumstances, they took a break from communicating during the month of December, and each began to take this consideration more seriously. On January 16th, 2023, they began to text again and on January 17, Ian broke the silence with these words "I think I'm in love with you", which was responded with a simple "same frequency". This moment began a two-year-long journey of dating, laughter, and falling deeper in love with each other. Through long distances and the ups and downs of life, Ian and Makayla remained inseparable and cherished each moment they were able to spend together. On January 17, 2025, on their 2-year anniversary, Ian got down on one knee and asked Makayla to marry him, a question she replied to with an emphatic "YES, YES, YES I WILL!" November 15, 2025 is not only a day to celebrate Ian and Makayla's love story, but to commission them into a new and exciting next chapter in which the two become one in the God-ordained covenant of marriage.
