Not and easy hike- moderately challenging (exposed roots) From US-41 in Marquette, turn north onto County Road 492 (Wright Street). After about 2 miles, turn left onto Forestville Road (look for recreational signs). Continue on Forestville Road (it's unpaved but manageable) for about 2 miles until you see the Dead River Parking Lot, located behind a small power station.
Walk of drive through the sculpture park.
Directions From Downtown Marquette: Follow 4th St. North as it turns into Presque Isle Ave. Turn left onto Hawley St. (County Road 550) and follow 550 northwest for about 4 miles. There are multiple parking areas off of 550.
**Highly recommend walking around the island!** During the summer and fall, the park is open from 7 AM until 11 PM daily. Peter White Drive is restricted to non-motorized traffic during the following: • Monday and Wednesday 6:00 PM to 11 PM • Tuesday and Thursday 7 AM to 1 PM • Saturday and Sunday 7 AM to 10 AM
Get there by taking Washington Street to Fourth Avenue. Turn north onto Fourth Ave., which becomes Presque Isle Ave and drive .4 miles to Hawley Street. At Hawley Street, turn west (left). Hawley becomes CR 550. Drive about 4.0 miles on Hawley Street/CR-550 to the parking area. A sign that reads “Sugarloaf Mountain” marks the parking area and is easily visible from CR 550.
