Sometimes the best stories begin when two very different paths cross at exactly the right moment. Maybe someday people will say we met “the old-fashioned way,” but thank goodness for technology—and for Shital deciding to use it while visiting her parents in the suburbs. :) Our first date took place on a brutally cold January night when the temperature dropped to negative twenty. I invited Shital out for Spanish tapas, hoping to impress her with stories from my time living in Spain and running with the bulls. When those attempts fell a little short, I relied on what I knew best—just being myself. Luckily for me, that worked. Somehow the high-fashion city girl found space in her life for a Costco-loving suburban dad. What started as a first date quickly turned into something more. We realized we shared a simple belief: the right person can make any moment special. Whether cooking dinner, discovering a new city, playing tennis, or listening to live music, we found joy in simply spending time together. What made our relationship truly special was how naturally—yet intentionally—our lives blended together. Shital didn’t just fall in love with me; she embraced the whole team. Watching her build her own relationship with the kids confirmed what I already knew. We balance each other in the best ways. Shital brings curiosity, warmth, and a sense of adventure to everything she does. Ed brings steadiness, humor, and a deep love for family into the life we are building together. At the center of it all is a shared belief that life is best lived with curiosity, a spirit of adventure, and the people you love most. What started on that freezing January night has grown into a lifetime of warm memories. During one of our favorite adventures, on a boat gliding across the blue waters of Lake Como in Italy, Ed asked Shital to marry him—and she said yes. We can’t wait to continue exploring the world together—one meal, one city, and one adventure at a time.

Mother and Father of the Bride
Rama and Ashvin came to the United States in their early 20s to build a life together. As many young immigrant families, they worked while simultaneously furthering their education - all the while starting a family at the ripe ages of 25 (Rama) & 26 (Ashvin). Ashvin spent the majority of his professional career at Allstate as a computer architect and Rama as an insurance underwriter with MetLife and Trustmark. They worked hard to not only provide for their family, but to assimilate into American culture. This meant a childhood filled with summer vacations to Clearwater Beach and Disney World, Ashvin coaching Shawn's soccer team, putting the kids in every sport possible, skiing included - yes brown people ski, AND camping. They recently celebrated 47 blissful years and are continuing to live their best retirement lives with busier social calendars than their kids. They keep busy with daily visits to the gym, house projects, spending time with friends/family, traveling, and most importantly and forever appreciated - caring for Jet and Izzy. They are beyond excited to welcome Ed, Callum, and Leila into the family and cannot wait to celebrate this special day!
Mother and Father of the Groom
Glenn and Carolyn Hendry shared a loving marriage for 54 years before Carolyn’s passing in 2017. They met in the spring of 1958, shortly before graduating from high school, and continued their relationship through college—Glenn at the University of Notre Dame and Carolyn at St. Louis University. Carolyn was raised by her mother, Genevieve “G” McCosh, after her father died when she was young. Despite the effects of childhood polio, “G” worked multiple jobs to ensure Carolyn received a strong education. In later years, she lived with the family and was an important part of Ed’s childhood. After graduating in 1962, Glenn was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army but continued his education at Washington University, earning his MBA. Carolyn began her career with General Electric in St. Louis. They became engaged in February 1963 and married that September. Glenn’s military service took them to Manhattan, Kansas, where their oldest daughter was born. In May 1965 they returned to St. Louis, where Glenn began his accounting career. Together they raised six children, with Ed as the youngest. Glenn and Carolyn built a home centered on faith, education, love of family, and a commitment to social justice—values they lived daily. In 2002 they moved to Dallas, happily embracing their roles as grandparents to 15 grandchildren. Carolyn passed away in 2017 after a courageous seven-year battle with ovarian cancer, leaving a lasting legacy for her family.
Brother and Sister-In-Law of the Bride
The sister Shital always needed and the brother she was given, Diana, Shawn, and Jet live in Lisle, IL. Diana has a positive perspective on all aspects of life, zest for creative fashion and projects (which often keep Jet busy), and Shawn decompresses with pickleball tournaments and pickup basketball (he can tell you all about the increased incidence of pickleball injuries compared to tennis b/c well, the players are a tad bit older). We all love seeing Jet, Callum, and Leila grow and play together, most recently exploring the Pop Up Balloon Museum in Chicago - though the adults may have loved it just as much as the kids.
Groom's Siblings
Being the youngest of six certainly had its benefits—many trails had already been blazed and plenty of mistakes had already been made. Growing up, Ed could almost always count on a steady game of pickup basketball, backyard flag football, or grubber (wiffle) ball with his brothers, along with plenty of chances to connect with his sisters. His siblings set a great example for him and were always nearby to help keep him on the right path—but just as importantly, they were right by his side if he ever wandered off it. As Ed grew older, the family spread across the country, but the connection remained strong. Each sibling always had a spare bed available when visiting, and eventually nieces and nephews arrived—giving Ed the chance to play the same role for the next generation that his older siblings had played for him. Today the family is spread out: Eileen in Milwaukee, Glenn in Charlotte, Maureen in St. Louis, Greg in Dallas, and Carolyn in Northern Virginia. While distance and busy family lives mean they can’t always gather together, they stay connected through regular messages, and the shared stories that continue to bind them together.
Vow Bearer
Callum, 11, is our future soccer star. He spends most of his time focused on school and soccer and has recently developed a strong interest in learning about different historical periods. Callum is often the first person in the house—or the room—to ask how your day was, so be sure to ask him how his is going, too! ⚽
Flower Girl
Leila is our 8 year old (going on 13) ball of joy. Not only is she studious and kind, she loves theater, singing, dancing, playing piano, and keeps us laughing and entertained at home. Be sure to ask her about her big performances this year in Annie and Seussical!
Ring Bearer
Ever curious 5 year old Jet is keeping busy these days swimming, reading and playing soccer and basketball. He loves his Dadi's home cooked Gujarati food and has scored himself a spare bedroom at Dadi and Dada's house (Grandpa/Grandma). He recently made the cut to enjoy all the big people rides at Disney World, and definitely has some favorites to share!
Maid of Honor
Our regal princess. Izzy has refocused her street guarding skills from the West Loop to the wild streets of Glencoe where she warns big fluffy squirrels and bunnies to stay off our property. She is still living the lap of luxury with home cooked meals - kibble how dare we; and belly rubs - from her favorite humans.
