Ceremony & Reception

3:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Blending Indian and Celtic traditions, our ceremony will flow between indoors and out. The reception will follow right after with dinner, drinks, and a wee bit of dancing. Wear what you'd normally wear to a wedding, Indian or Ireland style. If you've been dying to sport an Indian fit, here's your chance! See FAQs for more tips. We recommend wearing or bringing along some comfortable shoes. After the wedding, we'll be doing a Second Line, a celebration parade through the streets with Krewe da Bhan Gras, en route to our after party.

KdBG Second Line to the After Party

9:00 pm - 9:30 pm

A "second line" is a celebration parade. We'll be second lining Krewe da Bhan Gras, Anisha’s South Asian Mardi Gras dance krewe! Wear comfortable shoes because you’ll be walking/dancing 0.7 miles in them. :) The second line will head down Royal Street to Maison for the afterparty, with a pause at Washington Square Park... a great spot for families and kids to break off (and 21+ come back!) before we continue toward Frenchmen Street.

Late Night Dance Party

Sat, May 30, 2026, 9:30 pm - Sun, May 31, 2026, 12:30 am

The Maison (Frenchmen Street)
508 Frenchmen St, New Orleans, LA 70116

We'll keep the celebration going at our adults-only dance party nearby. Strictly no kids at this one, and we're still confirming the details, so stay tuned!

Chai & Beignets Brunch

10:30 am - 1:00 pm

If you don’t Irish goodbye, swing by Anisha’s cottage for chai, beignets, and a little breakfast fare to close out the weekend. ☕✨

FAQs

Question

So, what dates should I book?

Answer

Anisha’s Mehndi will be late morning on Friday, May 29 — a casual, come-and-go gathering with henna, snacks, and hangs. If you’re traveling in, we’d love for you to arrive by Friday evening (or Saturday at the latest), with a sweet send-off brunch on Sunday. That said, New Orleans is always worth a little extra time. If you can swing it, come early or linger late and make a trip of it. Wander the neighborhoods, eat something unforgettable, let the city work its magic.

Question

Should I bring my kids?

Answer

Well... Paul's kids (12 & 10 will be there for most of it), as will some friends and family. But it is New Orleans, and it is expensive to get here, especially for those from overseas. Most of Paul's friends are not bringing kids (and some escaping without spouses) due to distance, timing etc. If you can't come without your kids, then definitely do it. We'll make it work. 💛 If you do bring the whole crew, we suggest planning a drop-off either before or right after the Second Line. It will be fun for kids but they won't be able to enter the next spot. We’ll be putting together a list of trusted local babysitters and caregivers; just give us a shout to talk through any of this.

Question

Can I bring a plus one?

Answer

If your invitation includes a guest, we can’t wait to meet them. If you’re unsure, just ask. We’re working within space constraints but want everyone to feel comfortable and joyful.

Question

Where should we stay?

Answer

Anywhere you like but we recommend the Marigny, Bywater, French Quarter, or CBD if you want to be close to the action. New Orleans is compact and charmingly chaotic. Stay somewhere that makes you excited to wander. You could also consider coordinating with friends for a group spot. New Orleans is built for tourism so there are lots of spots across price ranges, find what fits for you. If you have questions or issues, let Anisha know.

Question

What’s the weather like in New Orleans in late May and what should I pack?

Answer

May is typically warm to hot. Truly. We are asking folks to embrace it. 🌞 Expect heat, humidity, and possible afternoon showers. Think lightweight fabrics (linen, cotton, silk), breathable layers, and shoes you can dance and second line in. If you’re wearing Indian attire, opt for lighter materials over heavy velvet or thick embroidery. Sunscreen, blotting papers, and a tiny fan won’t hurt. Hydrate like it’s your job. The warmth is part of the magic (mostly). We’ll have shade, drinks, and good vibes to keep things flowing.

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Festive. Colorful. Joyful. All events are casual with the exception of the wedding. Indian or Celtic attire warmly encouraged but truly, wear what makes you feel celebratory and comfortable. Paul says kilts aren't a thing but by all means, do you if you want the air flow. Linen is your friend. Sparkle is welcome. Bring the color. Our ceremony will flow between inside and outside spaces, and the Second Line will, of course, be outdoors. Plan for warmth and movement. Shoes you can stand and dance in are highly recommended.

Question

Wait... can I wear an Indian fit to the wedding?

Answer

Yes! Yes you absolutely can. If it feels joyful and fun, please do. Borrow from a friend (highly encouraged and sustainable), or order something that makes you feel festive and fabulous. Sarees are stunning and universally flattering. We recommend a pre-draped saree if you don’t want to learn pleating the night before. Blouses sometimes need tailoring, but you can also wear a simple, well-fitted top underneath. No major colors to avoid, except white which is traditionally associated with mourning in Hindu culture, not weddings. Otherwise? Bring the color. There’s a wide range in pricing and shipping timelines, so plan accordingly. While the Marigny Opera House doesn’t have ideal space for outfit changes, we’ll have a nearby spot to stash shoes or a second look for the after-party. We want you in full whimsy and full comfort. Just let Anisha know!

Question

Will there be vegetarian options?

Answer

Absolutely. No one is going hungry on our watch. Let us know of any dietary issues!

Question

Should I rent a car? What's parking like?

Answer

Up to you! New Orleans is a fairly small city and depending on location, many things are walkable and the best way to see the city. Our wedding events will be concentrated in the Treme & Marigny areas. Street parking is available, though it can take a little patience depending on the area. And the roads and drivers here are truly an experience. We recommend rideshare when possible so you can fully relax and celebrate.

Question

What about accessibility?

Answer

The Marigny Opera House is a historic space; full of beauty, character, and the occasional quirk. If you have specific accessibility needs, please reach out. We want to make sure you feel comfortable, supported, and able to fully enjoy the celebration. And a gentle New Orleans note: sidewalks can be uneven, streets lively, and drivers… enthusiastic. Keep your wits about you, look both ways (twice), and wear shoes that can handle a little adventure. Stay safe out there.

Question

How do I get from the airport to the city?

Answer

To get into the city, take an Uber/Lyft (ranges from $30-60) or snag a bus that will take you into town for like $1.25 (cash needed). Google Maps will tell you when and where to find it.

Question

What can I do after the welcome party to keep the festivities going?

Answer

Afterwards (or before) we encourage folks to check out more incredible live music on Frenchmen Street. Kermit Ruffins and the BBQ Swingers have an iconic show every Friday night, 10pm at the Blue Nile that we'd recommend! https://www.showpass.com/kermit-ruffins-the-bbq-swingers-2025/ The Frenchmen Art Market is also a fun spot to browse and shop.

Question

What is a Second Line?

Answer

A Second Line is a beloved New Orleans tradition rooted in Black Social Aid & Pleasure Club culture. Historically, these brass band processions have marked everything from weddings to jazz funerals; blending joy, grief, resilience, and community in motion through the streets. At weddings, the couple leads the “Main Line” through the streets, and everyone else joins behind with dancing, waving handkerchiefs or parasols, and following the music together. We’re honored to celebrate in this city and will be doing our own joyful interpretation, blending traditions that reflect who we are while acknowledging and respecting the Black New Orleans cultural roots of this practice.
