As God would have it, their paths crossed on the ancient Camino de Santiago in Spain, at the 400th mile marker. Dave was walking to honor the memory of his parents, while Pam was sharing the journey with her niece Makenna (Kenna) while healing from a broken relationship. Little did Pam know, Dave was immediately smitten, but she was oblivious to his interest. Kenna however, was quick to notice and whispered to her, “Aunty, he's got eyes for you or he’s “into you” or something like that! Pam’s first impression of Dave was his kindness, gentlemanly ways, and impeccable manners. Dave on the other hand, was struck by Pam’s ‘cuteness with a backpack.' Their initial conversation began with Pam’s remark about the rooster crowing in the afternoon, three times did that rooster crow. Knowing what we know now, Pam is thankful that Dave did not deny his interest in her. Pam showed little interest in Dave as they sat in the garden behind the Albergue, because Pam thought Dave was talking to his wife on the phone, but Pam later learned that it was his sister. So Pam asked to borrow a chair, and Dave was charmed by Pam’s request despite the fact there was an abundance of empty chairs surrounding them but Pam asked for the chair at Dave’s table. As Pam continued her journey through Spain and Thailand, Dave pursued her with kindness and determination, messaging her on WhatsApp for months, all the while under the watchful eye of Pam’s other Neice, Tay Tay. It wasn't long before they both realized that their connection was special. Dave was drawn to Pam’s adventurous spirit, kind heart, and gentle nature, while Pam admired Dave’s thoughtfulness, sense of humor, and generous soul. It was clearly God’s providence that brought them together. “I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord. Plans to not harm you, plans to prosper you. Plans for hope and a future”. Jeremiah 29:11. As we look back on our journey, we know that our love was meant to be. Exactly one year after their serendipitous meeting on the Camino de Santiago, Dave and Pamella Marie found themselves on a romantic food and wine tour in 2024. As they strolled through the rolling hills and lush vineyards, their love had grown stronger with each passing day. On a warm evening, they arrived at a breathtaking villa perched on a knoll, overlooking the vineyards. As the sun began to set, casting a golden glow over the landscape, Dave led Pamella Marie to a secluded spot with a stunning view. With the sound of birds singing in the background and the scent of blooming flowers in the air, Dave took Pamella Marie's hand and dropped to one knee. His eyes locked onto hers, filled with love and adoration, he asked the question that would change their lives forever: 'Pamella Marie, from the moment I met you on the Camino, I knew you were the one. Will you marry me and become Pamella Marie Garza?' Tears of joy streaming down her face, Pamella Marie said yes! As the sun dipped below the horizon, they embraced, basking in the glow of their love and the promise of a future together."
