How We Met

Pajdee's side of the story: My older sister, Gaolee, was the one who insisted I meet him. She kept telling me that he was deeply connected to his Hmong identity, just like me, and that we shared similar values. When Thunder/XobPov was coming into town from Duluth, he asked Gaolee if I would be open to meeting him. Suddenly, I get a friend request and it gave me the opportunity to learn more about who he was. I thought to myself, "dang, this guy is kinda scrawny..." LOL. But then I discovered his birth date. He was a Capricorn! And if you know anything about zodiac signs, Virgos and Capricorns are supposedly a great match. As silly as it sounds, that little detail was enough to convince me to give this blind date a chance. When I finally met him, my first thought was, "oh! He actually looks a lot more built in-person." Hehe. Who knew a zodiac sign would lead me to my now amazing husband. Thunder/XobPov's side of the story: As a new resident to the state having a metro area with the largest Hmong community, I was excited to meet new people and build my connection. My then good pharmacy friend Gaolee recommended me to meet her incredible little sister who also shares the same passion of community service to the Hmong community. Though I was very busy with pharmacy school at the time, I knew better not to miss out on an opportunity to connect with young like-minded Hmong individuals in Minnesota. On one of my trips down to Minneapolis, I hit up Gaolee to finally meet her sister. Our blind date was set at Cheng Heng restaurant. Meeting PajDib in person, I was surprised by how she carried herself. She spoke with confidence, had a compose character, a beautiful smile, and a warm aura. I'm incredibly thankful how that moment led to an incredible future together. Photo below: 1 year apart. From talking stage to dating era 💕
