Our StoryOur Story

Oyin: Damola and I first met in February of 2022 during a youth valentine program organized in church. I noticed him first during general introduction and liked how well spoken he was but we only spoke briefly after the event. Damola: I also noticed Oyin because she was one of the volunteers that did setup for the event. I was quite taken by her presence but was not quite sure what to even say to her, I was playing it cool! Oyin: In April, a mutual friend of ours invited Damola to a surprise birthday party that was thrown for me. We became friends after this and stayed friends until we were sure this was real… we made it official on March, 3 2023. Damola: That birthday was finally the chance I had to start to get to know Oyin and we kept talking after that. We were in different places in life when we met but we kept the connection. The bond that we built over time made me realize that being with her, felt like home, perfectly. After enough praying and pondering on my end, I finally asked for us to start building a solid relationship. Oyin: Fast forward to July of 2024, we went to Santa Cruz, California for what I thought was a hangout with friends but was actually my proposal. It was a beautiful beach proposal to which I literally cried for 15 minutes straight (there’s a video proof). Damola: I definitely did not cry but it was hard having to watch her be so overwhelmed so I did what I had to do to support her. Oyin: I did not wait for him to pop the question and just asked him to give the ring to me because Its always been a yes from the first moment I laid eyes on him and heard him speak and it will be a yes forever. Damola: She almost took over the proposal I planned. She thought she would know, but I totally caught her by surprised. Seeing her so happy just made me so glad that I get to spend the rest of my life with her.
