Jessie has never met a donut she didn't like, a fact about herself that she found cute but also true, so she put it in her Tinder profile, which she was always on the verge of deleting. On an October night, Jessie logged in to Tinder for precisely this purpose. She was really going to delete it this time. Love be damned! That was, until she saw a message from one Oneida Huntington who had sent her a cheeky little question: Do you consider donuts pastries? Jessie thought this was very silly. What, after all, would a donut be, if not a pastry? Jessie needed to know Oneida's position before she deleted her Tinder (for real this time! Love be damned!) And maybe she really would have, if she hadn't realized that she might've found someone who liked dessert (of all categories) as much as she does. Like their relationship, their mutual love of baked goods has only gotten stronger, thanks to living within close proximity of Bread Craft - the best bakery in Roanoke (and all of Virginia.)
Jessie and Oneida had their first (official) date at the historic Grandin Theater, which is in their neighborhood. They give House of Gucci 3/5 stars. They give the Grandin 5/5 stars.
Delicious pasta and pizza, and where Oneida and Jessie had dinner on the night Jessie proposed. That's amoré.
Frequent stop for date nights and friend hangs. Try the smoked cocktails and the giant pretzel.
On an average Saturday, you can find Jessie serving brunch and Oneida staring lovingly at her from the bar. The cocktails are exceptional, and the food is locally sourced, innovative, and delicious. We recommend making a reservation in advance.
Jessie and Oneida are on a campaign to get their loved ones to move to Roanoke. A walk on the greenway and a stop by Blue Cow for ice cream helps give Roanoke the hard sell. Order the Sea Salt Brickle, or go for a flight and add Banana Pudding, Key Lime Pie, and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.
Starcade is inside the Center in the Square, where you can see jellyfish and tropical fish in the lobby, take in beautiful views on the roof, and try to beat Jessie's Whack-A-Mole high score (87).
Sooner rather than later would be preferred, but ideally by March 17, 2025.
We want you to look good and feel good (but no bridal looks or blue jeans, please!)
Invited guests are indicated on the Save the Date.
There will be seltzer water, beer, wine, liquor, and batch cocktails.
We will have wedding cake, an array of desserts at the reception, and catering by Eatza Pizza, a local food truck.
Guests will need to arrange their own transportation. We recommend using Uber or Lyft. It is an 11 minute drive from Mill Mountain Park to Golden Cactus. For those who would like to get a ride home and leave their car near the reception overnight, we recommend parking at the Campbell Garage (19 Norfolk Ave SE, Roanoke, VA), which is $8/day and a 3 minute walk, or the Warehouse Row Lot (123 Salem Ave SW, Roanoke, VA), which is free and an 8 minute walk.
Yes, there is parking at both locations. There is a parking lot at Mill Mountain Park and a gravel lot and street parking near Golden Cactus.
Jessie and Oneida have a honeymoon fund through Zola.
