The Love Story

Olivia and Zach’s story begins in the summer of 2016, as two young college students studying abroad in Barcelona. They built a friendship on traveling through Spain and around Europe, drinking Sangria and eating patatas bravas, and enjoying one another’s senses of humor. It was not until four years later—when Olivia moved to Washington D.C. for law school—that their friendship grew into something more and their love story truly began. Once they started dating, Olivia and Zach were inseparable—though that might have had something to do with the global pandemic that forced them into quarantine together just a few months later. Through evenings spent cooking New York Times recipes, runs around Potomac and D.C., travels to Colorado, Miami, Puerto Rico, with many more in the years to follow, nearly nightly board games (especially Wingspan), and shared values, Olivia and Zach quickly realized their deep compatibility and knew they were meant to build a beautiful life together. Two years ago, Olivia and Zach took the next big step and moved in to their first shared apartment, and soon after welcomed their beloved mini bernedoodle, Zoe, into their lives. Their home was constantly filled with laughter, cuddles, books, and friends, their personal keys to a happy life. On October 27, 2023, just a day after Zach’s birthday, he surprised Olivia with a beautiful proposal. After nearly getting derailed due to a spontaneous but pressing work deadline, Zach successfully had Olivia’s colleagues intervene so they could enjoy a Friday afternoon at Theodore Roosevelt Island. There, surrounded by Olivia’s favorite autumn scenery and accompanied by Zoe, of course, Zach got down on one knee and asked Olivia to spend forever with him. The joy of that moment was followed by beautiful apartment decorations and champagne, then a celebratory staycation in Annapolis, Maryland, complete with a visit to a charming winery. Olivia and Zach continue to encourage one another to become their best selves. Since their engagement, they moved to Brooklyn for Zach to start business school at NYU Stern. They are so excited to get married in Washington DC, where they fell in love and hope to spend their lives together. Olivia and Zach can't wait to start this next chapter in their lives and are so grateful to have you by their sides as they get married!

Things To Do

Georgetown

Washington, DC 20007

Georgetown was one of our favorite ways to spend a Saturday. Go shopping and enjoy walking by the waterfront.

Theodore Roosevelt Island

Washington, DC

Teddy Roosevelt Island is a lovely nature walk--and it's where Zach proposed!

Dacha Beer Garden (Shaw)

1600 7th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20001

Our favorite beer garden in DC! Fun fact: Zach used to live directly behind Dacha, and Liv used to live right next door. Needless to say, there were many dates and outings with friends at Dacha.

Le Diplomate

1601 14th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20009

Le Diplomate is a true DC staple for lunch, dinner, or even an afternoon wine and cheese. When you're done, shop around 14th Street. We love Salt & Sundry and Steady State Books.

National Mall

Washington, DC

Walk around and check out the DC monuments. Olivia likes the Lincoln Memorial. Zach's favorite is the Vietnam War Memorial. Or, go to one of the amazing Smithsonian museums! It's not going to kill you to get a little culture.

Dupont Circle

Washington, DC 20036

More food and shopping!

Arboretum

Washington, DC 20002

Another nature option. Zach was supposed to propose to Olivia here.
