6:00 pm
Casual
We will welcome everyone to Virginia with a cookout on our apartment's roof deck! Food and drink will be provided. Meet other wedding guests and enjoy the great views of the city!
5:00 pm - 5:30 pm
Semi-Formal
The ceremony will be held at the Athenaeum in downtown Alexandria. We anticipate the ceremony will go to about 5:00 pm, and then we will have photos at and around the venue. Since our guest list is so small, we ask that everyone join the photos for the first 30 minutes and then enjoy the Alexandria waterfront and downtown area before heading to dinner at 7 pm.
7:00 pm
Semi-Formal
Following the ceremony, we will all have dinner at Josephine, a lovely French restaurant three blocks from the venue.

Casual
Following the wedding day, we would love to take anyone available for some sightseeing around DC. We have some key places around the city that we love to take guests, including the old Post Office observation deck, the Kennedy Center, and the FDR Memorial on the Tidal Basin. If these sites interest you, feel free to join the group!
Flight
For those flying from Milwaukee, we recommend a nonstop flight on Southwest Airlines from MKE to DCA. DCA is 10 minutes north of Alexandria, and one of the recommended hotels has a shuttle service from this airport.
Hotel
We recommend guests stay at Sheraton Suites Old Town Alexandria! Since our group is small, the hotel was not able to accommodate a room block. Sheraton Suites is a 5-minute bus ride or a 10-minute walk from our apartment. It is also surrounded by all Old Town North has to offer, including, restaurants, parks, and shops.
Hotel
Another hotel option in Old Town North is Hotel AKA. This recently opened modern hotel is two blocks away from the Sheraton Suites, so it is also only a 10-minute walk and 5-minute bus ride from our apartment.
No tuxes or floor-length dresses are required! For women, semi-formal is typically mid-to-knee-length dresses or skirts or a nice pantsuit, and for men, semi-formal includes a jacket, pants, and ties are encouraged.
Alexandria and DC both have amazing public transit systems! Alexandria has a free bus service called DASH that has stops across the street from the hotels. This bus system will take you to King Street, which is the main avenue in Old Town Alexandria. King Street is also only a 14-minute walk from the hotels (0.6 miles) for those who prefer to walk. To get into DC, we strongly recommend taking the train. The Braddock Road metro station is a 14-minute walk or a 6-minute bus ride from the hotels and has two train lines, Yellow and Blue. The Yellow Line will take you directly to the city center. We recommend getting off at the Archives stop for those who want to visit the National Mall. This is about a 15-20 minute train ride. The Blue Line is the best way to get to Arlington National Cemetary, which is a 10-minute train ride from Alexandria.
We love the food scene in Alexandria! Here are some of our favorite places to visit: Old Town North (close to the hotels): -Chop Shop Taco (8-minute walk) - fun upscale taco restaurant in an old converted auto repair shop -Bastille Brassiere (14-minute walk) - French bistro with a great wine selection *Luke's top pick* -Zento Japanese Restaraunt (5-minute walk) - casual Japanese restaurant with great sushi -Lost Dog Cafe (10-minute walk) - casual and affordable pizza and sandwich restaurant with a great beer selection -Hanks Oyster Bar (2-minute walk) - DC chain restaurant with great seafood options Old Town Alexandria (downtown area) -BARCA Wine Bar and Pier (24-minute walk) - Mediterranean tapas restaurant on the Potomac river *Olivia's top pick* -Mia's Italian Kitchen (20-minute walk) - Italian restaurant known for its pan-fired pizza -Myron Mixon's Pitmaster BBQ (15-minute walk) - Casual BBQ restaurant
