FAQs

Question

What is Día de los Muertos?

Answer

We’re getting married on November 1st, the first day of Día de los Muertos - a sacred time in Mexican culture when the veil between worlds grows thin, and we welcome back the souls of those we love. It is not a day of mourning, but a day of remembrance. A day when altars bloom with marigolds, candles flicker in quiet honor, and the air is filled with stories, laughter, and song. To remember is to keep someone alive. So we carry them with us - in our hearts, in our joy, and now, in our marriage. As we begin this new chapter surrounded by family and friends, we also honor those who came before us - those who made our love possible and whose spirits guide us still. You’ll see pieces of this tradition throughout our day - bright marigolds, warm candlelight, and quiet tributes tucked between the celebration. They are love letters to the past, woven gently into the joy of the present. Thank you for sharing this moment with us - a celebration not just of a wedding, but of a legacy of love.

Question

How should I dress for the celebration?

Answer

We would be honored if you joined us in formal attire to help make the evening feel truly special. For women, floor-length gowns, elegant midi dresses, or dressy separates are appropriate. For men, a dark suit and tie is recommended; tuxedos are welcome but not required.

Question

Can I bring a guest?

Answer

We’re so excited to celebrate with our closest loved ones! Due to space limitations, we’re only able to accommodate the guests listed on your invitation. If you received a plus one, it will be clearly indicated on your invitation and on your RSVP page. Thank you for understanding!

Question

Are children invited?

Answer

We kindly ask that only children from our immediate families attend. If your child(ren) are invited, their names will be listed individually on your invitation and on your RSVP page.

Question

Where should I go if I have some free time?

Answer

While the wedding itself will take place entirely in Rock Hill, we currently live in Charlotte and are a bit partial to our city — which is why most of our recommendations are based there! There are two main neighborhoods to eat, drink, and explore in Charlotte: Uptown and South End. The Light Rail is Charlotte’s beloved public transportation train that makes getting around easy and affordable. A few of our personal favorites include Nuvole, Sycamore Brewing, and Elsewhere. If you're staying closer to the venue and want to explore Rock Hill, we also recommend checking out the Riverwalk area along the Catawba River, grabbing coffee or a bite at Knowledge Perk, or enjoying a relaxing stroll through Glencairn Garden.

Question

Do you have a room block?

Answer

Yes! We welcome you to join our other guests at the Hilton Garden Inn in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Please use the QR code under the "Travel" section.

Our Story

It all began in the fall of 2019, during a weekend away with friends. Amid the golden leaves and laughter, Alex saw Olivia for the first time and was instantly drawn to her warmth and beauty. Though Olivia was in a relationship, destiny had other plans. By late fall, she was single, and with graduation nearing, Alex seized a fleeting chance—inviting her to dance, performing magic tricks, and making her smile. We became a couple on February 16, 2020. Just weeks later, the world shut down due to the pandemic. Though physically apart, we grew closer than ever. Hours-long phone calls turned into shared dreams, and we began spending time with each other’s families, building a bond rooted in love and resilience. In the fall, Olivia began medical school, and Alex pursued his MBA nearby to stay close. Between long days and late nights, we built a life of joy and unwavering support. Now, we live in Charlotte with our dog, Kiko, and bunny, Benito—grateful for the path that led us to forever.
