A Nikah ceremony is an Islamic marriage ceremony, whereby a Muslim couple legitimises their marriage in the eyes of God by signing the marriage contract in the presence of an imam and at least 2 witnesses (and in our case our close family and friends).
The Walima is the second half of an Islamic marriage that operates as a reception where families come together and get to know one another. It is a symbol of the union of the two families.
As we start our lives together we know how important it is to have our loved ones around us as support. We are also aware of the financial responsibilities that are put in front of us as a couple. As much as we would love to cover everyone's meal during this important moment we also do not want to put ourselves in a precarious financial situation. We truly believe there will be enough time in this life for people to celebrate and support us in our marriage.
