Our love story began in the enchanting town of Portales, New Mexico, at Eastern New Mexico University. It was there, amidst the vibrant energy of campus life, where our paths first crossed. I, Nina, had come from Maryland, where my family lives, and I, James, from Long Island, New York. We found each other in a shared journey — I as an international nursing student and James pursuing a degree in environmental science. James’s commitment to his studies was nothing short of inspiring. He balanced academic demands, all of which led him to graduate summa cum laude—a quiet testament to his dedication. This achievement, though significant, was always humbly acknowledged by him. We supported each other through the challenges and triumphs of university life, which deepened our connection and strengthened our bond. After graduation, our careers took us to different places: James to Albuquerque and I to Arizona, where I embraced my calling in nursing. Despite the physical distance, our hearts remained closely knit, guided by the memories of Portales and the dreams we shared. Together, we are now setting up our new home in Arizona, a significant step as we build our future. This new beginning is made even more special as we eagerly anticipate the arrival of our baby girl in July, a joyous addition to our growing family. On April 27, 2024, we invite you to return with us to Portales, where it all began, to celebrate our wedding. This day is not just a celebration of our union, but a tribute to our origins — Nina’s family in Maryland, and my roots in New York. It’s an opportunity to honor our past, revel in our present, and look forward to our future filled with love, learning, and happiness. We are excited to share this momentous day with you, reflecting on the journey that brought us together and looking forward to the life we are creating, soon to be enriched by the arrival of our daughter.
