Back in the bustling heart of Ajegunle, where danfo horns played background music and roadside suya vendors doubled as local celebrities, there stood Compass Lesson—a place students went to sharpen their minds. It was just another after-school lesson. I, Onyedikachi was sat at my usual spot near the window, half-listening to equations and half-dreaming about going home, then Nenye took my book to catch up on the lessons and there she caught my name. So naturally, I had to return the favour and got to know her name also. From there, we grew to become bestfriends. Transitioned to both going to different Universities. I travelled down to the UK after my Polytechnic in Nigeria while Nenye studied at University of Benin. However, before I travelled out in 2016, I summoned the courage to ask her out on the 1st October 2016 as I wanted more from our friendship. What started with exchange of notebook turned into unforgettable memories. Fast forward to Years later, here we are—Nenye, the girl who caught my eyes with her pretty smiles and kind heart. So yeah…. that’s how our story began: not with fireworks or love songs, but with a borrowed book at Compass Lesson. Although the journey has been a rollercoaster, we’re happy we never gave up on OUR LOVE. And I wouldn’t change a single page!
