FAQs

Wedding Celebration FAQ
Question

Where is the celebration taking place?

Answer

We’ll be celebrating at Riverside Community Church of Jesus. The church is located at 121 Patterson Lane, Elizabethton TN

Question

What time should I arrive?

Answer

We recommend arriving by 1:30 PM at the latest to settle in before festivities begin. The celebration kicks off at 2:00PM!

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Yes—festive and semi-casual attire is perfect. We kindly ask guests to avoid wearing navy, as that’s the special color reserved for the bride and groom. If you're inspired to match our celebration colors, we’d love to see you in silver or white!

Question

Are there hotel recommendations or lodging options?

Answer

Absolutely! If you’re coming from out of town and need help with reservations or rental suggestions, feel free to call me at 423-430-2718 or email. I’ll gladly help you book a place that fits your needs.

Question

Will there be food and drink?

Answer

Yes! We’re keeping things festive and elegant with a beautifully styled charcuterie board full of sweet, savory, and shareable bites—plus a celebration cake to mark this joyful occasion. Come hungry and ready to indulge in flavors and fellowship!

Question

Can I bring a guest?

Answer

Please check your RSVP invitation for details. If you have questions or want to confirm a plus-one, just reach out!

Question

Should I bring a camera or phone?

Answer

We’re planning an unplugged ceremony, which means we kindly ask guests to keep phones and cameras tucked away during this special moment. We truly want everyone to be fully present as we celebrate our love and commitment—no screens, just hearts wide open. We’ll have a photographer capturing everything beautifully, so you’ll still get to relive the memories without the distraction. Once the ceremony wraps, feel free to snap away during the celebration!

Question

Can I bring my children?

Answer

We love your little ones! Please check your RSVP invitation for details about child attendance. If you’re unsure, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to clarify.

Question

Are you registered anywhere?

Answer

We’re not registered anywhere—your presence is truly the greatest gift to us. Sharing this moment of celebration together means more than anything. That said, for those who feel moved to give, gift cards are warmly welcome and deeply appreciated. We’re grateful for your kindness and simply look forward to celebrating with you!

Question

Is there parking available?

Answer

Yes! Riverside Community Church of Jesus has parking available. If you need help with directions or accessibility, just let us know.

Question

Will there be dancing or entertainment?

Answer

As the celebration is taking place in a church setting, we’re keeping the atmosphere simple, joyful, and reverent. While we won’t have dancing or formal entertainment, we’re looking forward to heartfelt fellowship, meaningful moments, and the joy of simply being together.

Question

What if it rains?

Answer

The celebration will be held indoors. We’ll keep you updated if anything changes due to weather.

Question

What time does the celebration end?

Answer

We expect festivities to wind down around 4:00 PM, but you’re welcome to linger and soak in the joy!

Question

Will there be a prayer or spiritual moment?

Answer

Yes—at the end of the reception, we’ll gather for a prayer circle. During this time, everyone will be asked to pray over us as a couple, joining together in lifting our marriage before God with love, faith, and intention. It’s our desire to begin this new chapter surrounded by the prayers and blessings of our community. Your presence and participation will mean so much to us.

Question

Can I send a card or message if I can’t attend?

Answer

Absolutely. Your kind words and prayers mean the world to us. Feel free to mail a card or message to 1401 E. Lakeview Dr. Johnson City, TN 37601.

Question

Will there be a money pinning tradition?

Answer

Yes! As part of our celebration, we’ll include a joyful tradition where guests are invited to pin money to the bride—a gesture of love, support, and blessing as we begin our new life together. This custom holds special meaning in African American wedding culture, where it’s often seen as a way to honor the couple, contribute to their future, and celebrate with generosity and joy. Rooted in community values and shared history, this tradition reflects the spirit of collective uplift and care that has long been part of Black family gatherings and celebrations. We’ll have pins and helpers available to make it easy and safe. Whether it’s a small bill or a heartfelt hug, your participation is deeply appreciated—it’s not about the amount, but the love behind it.
