Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens
A beautiful historic mansion that is home to incredible gardens, including the English garden and the Japanese garden. On a nice day, it's worth a stroll outside around the grounds!
Szalay's Farm & Market
One of our favorite summer & fall activities in Akron! Szalay's is primarily a corn farm & and sells fresh produce. Our favorite thing to do is to skip lunch in favor or a fresh, hot, and buttery corn-on-the-cob followed by delicious soft-serve ice cream at Szalay's while swinging on the extra-large wooden porch swing.
Cuyahoga Valley National Park
In need of some outdoor time? The Cuyahoga Valley National Park is beautiful in the fall for a leisurely hike, and is only about 10 minutes from the Hilton Akron / Fairlawn.
BrewWall
In the weeks we have spent with the Joyce's during COVID, this has been a staple. The pizza from Antonio's is delicious, and the outdoor firepit is a great spot for a drink.
Beau's Grille
Attached to the hotel and a Joyce family favorite! We love the mozzarella sticks!
Ken Stewart's Grille
Delicious Akron staple where Chowkas asked Mr. & Mrs. Joyce (who quickly became Paul & Colleen) for their blessing to ask Nancy to marry him!
Saffron Patch in the Valley
Chowkas' favorite (only...) Indian restaurant in Akron.
Swensons Drive-In
If you don't go to Swenson's while in Akron, you didn't really visit Akron. LeBron swears by it, which should be enough to convince you. Grab a burger and a shake, or try the zucchini sticks or potato teasers in a classic drive-in set-up.
Lock 3 Park
Check out the daily events at Lock 3 in the heart of downtown Akron. Friday nights in the summer are often home to live music, and in the winter, this venue turns into a skating rink and Winter Wonderland!
