How our story began

September 27, 2015

We first met through mutual friends at the annual Broadway Flea Market in Times Square. One of us was very interested in the other. The other was oblivious to everything except Broadway merchandise. Fortunately, we had a second chance to connect a few months later and that's when we really hit it off. We've been together ever since.

About us

The last 4 years together have been the incredible debut of a relationship that has grown and flourished, nourished by love and by a shared zest for life. Among our many common interests are our love of theater and hiking, our geeky enthusiasm for board games, books, movies, and television, and our appreciation of the time we spend together. We both grew up in Modern Orthodox communities, Ariel in New Jersey and Nadiv in Israel, and we both find meaning in our Judaism. Most importantly, we both envision a future together that is built on a foundation of mutual respect, love, and laughter. This wedding is a stepping stone to that future and we couldn't be happier.

The Proposal

April 30, 2019 - Bohemian Paradise, Czech Republic

We were vacationing in the Czech Republic and we went hiking in the stunning Bohemian Paradise nature reserve. When we reached the summit of one of the central cliffs we found ourselves surrounded by gorgeous sandstone formations and trees. Amid this picturesque backdrop, Nadiv pulled out a ring from his pocket and proposed to Ariel at which point Ariel enthusiastically started hugging Nadiv and jumping for joy. Five minutes later we realized that Ariel had neglected to officially say "yes," an oversight which was immediately and enthusiastically rectified.

About our wedding

We are overjoyed to be celebrating our marriage with our loved ones and are eagerly counting down to the big day. Although Orthodox same-sex weddings are not yet completely mainstream, we have been fortunate to attend a number of ceremonies over the past few years and each one has been distinctive and moving in its own way. In consultation with Orthodox rabbinic authorities, we are have worked hard to plan a ceremony that will be authentically Jewish, personally meaningful, and completely celebratory of our love for and devotion to one another.
