The closest regional airport to St. Andrews is Edinburgh (EDI). We recommend arriving on Saturday (7/20) and departing Tuesday (7/23), as flights out of EDI tend to depart in the first half of the day. Edinburgh to Leuchars
If you prefer to take the train, there are trams that transport you from the Edinburgh Airport to the local rail network. Leuchars is the closest local train station to St. Andrews. One potential route is to take a tram from the airport to Edinburgh Gateway, and then a train to Leuchars (LEU) station. The train can be booked ahead on ScotRail and/or at the airport before taking the Edinburgh Airport tram. These trains usually run about 1.5 hrs. Once you've arrived at Leuchars station, St. Andrews is a short 15 minute taxi ride away. Taxis will be available waiting at the station. Please note: Rideshares like Uber and Lyft are not available in this region so it will be necessary to take a taxi as needed.
