Before We Met
In the summer of 2018, four months before their paths would cross, Melissa and Michael found themselves in Greece for different reasons. Melissa was in Athens celebrating her sister Olivia's wedding, while Michael was exploring the city for the first time with his family. On July 28, 2018, Melissa visited the Acropolis as part of the wedding festivities. That same day, Michael was wandering the very same ancient grounds, taking in the same view of the city below. Neither knew the other existed, yet their footsteps briefly overlapped beneath the shadows of the Parthenon. While they later uncovered the coincidence, they liked to imagine that their story began there- quietly set in motion, perhaps even ordained by the goddess Athena herself. Το καλοκαίρι του 2018, τέσσερις μήνες πριν οι δρόμοι τους συναντηθούν, η Μελίσα και ο Μάικλ βρέθηκαν στην Ελλάδα για διαφορετικούς λόγους. Η Μελίσα ήταν στην Αθήνα για να γιορτάσει τον γάμο της αδερφής της Ολίβια, ενώ ο Μάικλ εξερευνούσε την πόλη για πρώτη φορά με την οικογένειά του. Στις 28 Ιουλίου 2018, η Μελίσα επισκέφθηκε την Ακρόπολη στο πλαίσιο των γαμήλιων εορτασμών. Την ίδια μέρα, ο Μάικλ περιπλανιόταν στους ίδιους αρχαίους χώρους, απολαμβάνοντας την ίδια θέα της πόλης από κάτω. Κανένας από τους δύο δεν γνώριζε την ύπαρξη του άλλου, ωστόσο τα βήματά τους επικαλύφθηκαν για λίγο κάτω από τις σκιές του Παρθενώνα. Ενώ αργότερα ανακάλυψαν τη σύμπτωση, τους άρεσε να φαντάζονται ότι η ιστορία τους ξεκίνησε εκεί - αθόρυβα σε κίνηση, ίσως μάλιστα να είχε οριστεί από την ίδια τη θεά Αθηνά.
Our Story
On Sunday, November 11, 2018, Melissa and Michael met for the first time at a cozy bar near Harvard Square in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Their original plan for a bike ride had been rained out, so they chose instead to meet at the Cambridge Common on that chilly fall night. Michael was immediately impressed that Melissa had been willing to brave a bike ride in 40°F (4°C) rainy weather, while Melissa was equally surprised to learn that a Florida native like Michael not only knew how to ski but loved it. Very quickly, they discovered how naturally their interests aligned. Weekend hikes and ski trips in New Hampshire’s White Mountains became part of their rhythm, and in 2022, Melissa and Michael relocated to the artsy beach town of Gulfport, Florida for a change from the mountains to the beach. In this time, Melissa and Michael spent their years filled with adventure, shared routines, and a relationship that steadily grew stronger. Together, they traveled to more than a dozen countries. Then, on a multiday trek high up in the Andes Mountains of Peru, Michael got down on one knee, and Melissa said yes. Την Κυριακή 11 Νοεμβρίου 2018, η Μελίσα και ο Μάικλ συναντήθηκαν για πρώτη φορά σε ένα άνετο μπαρ κοντά στην πλατεία Χάρβαρντ στο Κέιμπριτζ της Μασαχουσέτης. Το αρχικό τους σχέδιο για μια βόλτα με ποδήλατο είχε ακυρωθεί, οπότε επέλεξαν αντ' αυτού να συναντηθούν στο Cambridge Common εκείνη την κρύα φθινοπωρινή νύχτα. Ο Μάικλ εντυπωσιάστηκε αμέσως που η Μελίσα ήταν πρόθυμη να τολμήσει μια βόλτα με ποδήλατο σε βροχερό καιρό με 4°C, ενώ η Μελίσα εξεπλάγη εξίσου όταν έμαθε ότι ένας ντόπιος της Φλόριντα, όπως ο Μάικλ, όχι μόνο ήξερε να κάνει σκι, αλλά και το αγαπούσε. Πολύ γρήγορα, ανακάλυψαν πόσο φυσικά τα ενδιαφέροντά τους ταίριαζαν. Οι πεζοπορίες και οι εκδρομές για σκι στα Λευκά Όρη του Νιου Χάμσαϊρ έγιναν μέρος του ρυθμού τους και το 2022, η Μελίσα και ο Μάικλ μετακόμισαν στην καλλιτεχνική παραθαλάσσια πόλη Γκάλφπορτ της Φλόριντα για μια αλλαγή από τα βουνά στην παραλία. Σε αυτό το διάστημα, η Μελίσα και ο Μάικλ πέρασαν τα χρόνια τους γεμάτα περιπέτειες, κοινές ρουτίνες και μια σχέση που γινόταν σταθερά πιο δυνατή. Μαζί, ταξίδεψαν σε περισσότερες από δώδεκα χώρες. Έπειτα, σε μια πολυήμερη πεζοπορία ψηλά στις Άνδεις του Περού, ο Μάικλ γονάτισε και η Μελίσα είπε ναι.

Regardless of where you stay, please RSVP by Tuesday, March 31, 2026. This is also the deadline to reserve your hotel room at the Plaza Resort Hotel using the wedding rate. The welcome dinner on Saturday, June 27, 2026 will be what we want to call "Santorini Smart", or smart-casual and suitable for a coastal setting. There is a possibility we will be standing on sand by the sea until we are seated in the outdoor grass lawn. The wedding on Sunday, June 28, 2026 will be formal/semi-formal. For the women, please no white, ivory, cream, or silver. Join an organized day trip to Athens on Saturday, June 27th, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The cost is approximately €28–€35 per person. The trip will explore some of the city’s most iconic sites, all within walking distance, including the Acropolis, Plaka, the Acropolis Museum, and Monastiraki. The itinerary also includes stops at Syntagma Square and the ancient stadium where the original Olympic Games were held.
