REMINDERS Your passport must be valid for 3 months before & 3 months after your trip for a total of 6 months. Our suggestion is to renew no later than December 2024. It takes 13+ weeks to renew your passport. More info below. Good news!! The travelers visa for 2025 is not needed at this time! - “ETIAS is currently not in operation and will not start in the first half of 2025. No action is required from travelers at this point." - This update (linked below) was posted on February 11, 2025 - if this changes, we will let everyone know. We do not recommend renting a car in Florence, it's not the most drivable city, small side streets that require permits to drive on and it's near impossible to park (Mia still has a fine to pay from the last time we were there.. oops). Trains are your best option for travel (linked below). For guests staying in Florence, we will provide transportation to and from the venue on both the wedding day and for the day after pool & pizza party

Flight

Florence Airport (FLR) - Amerigo Vespucci Airport

Taxis are lined up outside the airport. They are fairly priced and easier than Uber. Note - Florence isn't the most drivable city so your taxi driver might not be able to drop you off at your front door but will get you as close as possible! (streets are small and some require permits to drive down)

Flight

Rome Airport - Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport

Once you arrive, grab a taxi, Uber or take the train to Rome! The train from the airport to Roma Termini station is $9-$18/ticket depending on the train and takes between 30-45 minutes. Use the link below to purchase your train ticket (either in advance or when you arrive). Just select From: Fiumicino Aeroporto To: Roma Termini (or whatever destination you'd like). You can also purchase in person - just look for the red machines inside the airport that say "BIGLIETTI" or find a staffed ticket counter. If heading directly to Florence by train after landing in Rome, you'll just add Firenze S. M. Novella as your final destination. There are no direct trains from the Roma airport to Florence so you'll have 1 change.

Train

TrenItalia

Our favorite way to travel through Italy! The easiest route from Rome is Roma Termini station to Firenze Santa Maria Novella station. The high-speed trains run (direct) multiple times an hour. It's roughly a 1.5 hour ride ranging from $35-$50 a ticket. We purchase tickets using the mobile app - Trenitalia or their website linked below. Italo is the other high speed train in Italy. You can purchase in person once you arrive at the station, but purchasing in advance will be cheaper. You can use the link (or app) to purchase tickets for all other cities & towns throughout Italy.
