We are so excited for you to be joining us in celebrating our special day. We have decided to ask our family and friends to consider sponsoring a part of our Honeymoon in place of buying physical gifts. We will be going on a two week trip of a lifetime to Japan. With Ryan's love for computers and gaming mixed with my love for the outdoors and cultural learning, we decided Japan would be the perfect place to start our life adventure. We want to thank each and every one of you for the love, and patience that you have given us in the 13 years that has lead up to this moment. We are so blessed to have you to support us as a couple. Now, let's do this! #FinallyBaskin24
Ryan and I met through my brother, Joseph. We all went to high school together, but I really didn't know Ryan until I was a senior in high school. Ryan and Joseph went to Georgia State and started hanging out a lot in their second year. Ryan would come over and hang out with Joseph at our parent's house. Ryan and I started to hang out when Joseph was busy and we entertained ourselves with video games, playing guitar (Ryan mostly), and we even learned to solve the Rubik's cube together. Ryan and I were purely friends. I can't deny that I thought he was pretty cute, but didn't think too hard about it. He started becoming a part of the family and even came to family events. Before I knew it, we were good friends. One day in February of 2011, Ryan came over to hang out at our house and a snowstorm came and shut down Atlanta for about a week. Ryan, Joseph and I were snowed in with our parents and there was nothing we could do about it. We decided to make the best of it. We played games, walk to the grocery store for supplies, I ran in the snow barefoot, and we had a great time. One of the evenings, we were playing a card game, and I was losing to Ryan and Joseph bad. I was a sore loser and to make me feel better, Ryan rubbed my back and told me it was okay. At that moment, I knew we couldn't just be friends anymore. My Mom (embarrassingly) asked Ryan if he would take me to my Senior prom as a friend. He, surprisingly, said he would, but was a little worried about the height difference. (haha) We had a blast and before we knew it, we were inseparable. We have grown and learned so much about ourselves and each other since then. We are so excited to start our next chapter together.
After enjoying a wonderful season with family and friend's celebrating birthdays, Christmas and New Years, it was the 2nd of January, 2023. On this particular night, like most, I layed in bed, turned out the lights, and barely fell asleep, when I heard the door to my bedroom creek open. I listen while hearing Ryan's familiar footsteps. He stopped by the bed, knelt down, and turned on my bedside lamp. I twisted around to face him while blinking and cleared my throat. I asked him what was going on, because he wasn't saying anything. He placed a small box on the bed and I looked at it confused. "What is that?" I asked and to that he replied, "I think you know." l denied any possibility that it could be the thing that it was. "Ashleigh, will you marry me?" He asked. "Yes." I barely could get out before I was hugging him tight. I couldn't believe it! It happened! I finally stopped hugging him enough to actually look at the ring and he helped put it on. It was perfect. We were both so excited that we could barely sleep.
