A Long Way Home to Each Other

It all started in Glendale, Arizona, back when Melissa was living there and Alex had just arrived for job training with Waste Management. Two lives crossing paths in just the right place at just the right time. One of our very first dates was at a little breakfast spot called Kiss the Cook. We were both super nervous, and somehow we both ended up ordering omelets even though neither of us is really an omelet person. We just went with it, tried to play it cool, and laughed about it later. What was meant to be just a short visit for Melissa to see Alex in Milwaukee turned into something much bigger. She never planned on staying in Wisconsin until she fell in love. Now, we live together in Milwaukee, raising our son and building a life full of love, growth, and laughter. We enjoy dancing in the living room on weekends, and Alex occasionally tries to teach Melissa how to watch a baseball game. She pretends to understand the rules, and we both act like that counts. In return, Melissa does her best to teach Alex how to handle spicy food and throws in a little Spanish here and there, just to test the limits of his four years of Spanish from high school. He also has a habit of surprising her with flowers just because, and always knows how to make her feel special, appreciated, and deeply loved. We can’t wait to celebrate this next chapter with all of you.

Wedding

4:00 pm

We kindly ask that you wear black. It’s flattering, it’s straightforward, and you won’t spend an hour panic scrolling Pinterest.

The ceremony is kicking off at 4:00 PM sharp, not “whenever you roll up.” If you’re late, prepare to make your entrance straight down the aisle… with all eyes on you.

FAQs

Question

So… what kind of night are we getting into?

Answer

We didn’t invite hundreds of people. We invited 50 of our absolute favorite humans. So if you’re reading this, that means you made the cut. We just want to have an amazing time with the people we love most. No stress. No formalities. No “perfect” wedding behavior. Just good energy, real laughs, and a night we’ll never forget.

Question

Should I show up hungry?

Answer

Dinner will be catered by That’s Amore, one of our favorite Italian restaurants. We wanted to share something we truly love with all of you, so expect a good meal and full plates.

Question

Do I need to pregame or is this covered?

Answer

We went all out with the premium bar package, so yes, there will be alcohol and yes, there will be plenty of it. Hydrate accordingly.

Question

What time does the reception start?

Answer

The ceremony begins at 4 p.m. and should last about 20 to 30 minutes, maybe even less depending on how fast Herb talks. Our officiant also happens to be an auctioneer, and we’ve asked him to keep it quick and efficient so we can get straight to the fun. After a cocktail hour (because yes, we believe in pre-dinner drinks), we’re aiming to kick off the reception around 5:30 p.m.
