London, UK

Yay!

As many of you know, we tied the knot over Christmas with a small family ceremony at Marylebone Town Hall (see photo!). With the legal bit now out of the way, we are super excited to celebrate our nuptials with all of our favourite people. So, here's the plan:

The Wedding

3:00 pm - 11:45 pm

Clapton Country Club
38 - 40 Upper Clapton Road, London, E5 8BQ, United Kingdom

Please note this is not actually a country club! The dress code is summer formal (ties encouraged).

The closest train station is Clapton, though you may want to consider taking an Uber/cab if you're coming from central London and not familiar with the tube. Please select your choice of main course via the RSVP form below.

Guide

We're so excited to share our favourite city with you! London is obviously huge, so these tips are only a drop in the bucket. If you need any more specifics or have questions, just drop us a line. • Neighbourhoods we’d recommend to stay in: Covent Garden/Holborn, Soho, Fitzrovia and Waterloo/Southwark. These are all very central, meaning you'll be able to walk to most of the sights. • The Hoxton, Premier Inn, Doubletree by Hilton, and citizenM are all reliable chains. easyHotel and Travelodge are generally cheaper options. • Our wedding venue is quite a way out in residential East London, so we wouldn't recommend staying near there if you want to see the sights! We've left restaurants and pubs/bars off of the list below because there are simply too many, but please text us if you'd like a recommendation.

St. Paul's Cathedral

England EC4M 8AD, United Kingdom

Millie's favourite building in London and our engagement spot :)

Borough Market

England SE1 9AL, United Kingdom

A must! Sample all the food stalls and then stop at The Wheatsheaf for a pint. Closed on Mondays.

Brick Lane

Brick Lane, England, United Kingdom

Fun bars and vintage shopping in one of the most vibrant parts of the city.

Fortnum & Mason

181 Piccadilly, St. James's, England W1A 1ER, United Kingdom

Great old department store with lots of British goodies. They serve a traditional 'afternoon tea' in a beautiful lounge on the top floor (but you'd need to book in advance!)

Churchill War Rooms

King Charles Street, England SW1A 2AQ, United Kingdom

National Portrait Gallery

Saint Martin's Place, England WC2H 0HE, United Kingdom

Tower of London

England EC3N 4AB, United Kingdom

Tate Modern

Bankside, England SE1 9TG, United Kingdom

FAQs

Question

What's the schedule for the day?

Answer

Fair warning: English weddings are whole-day affairs! We'll start with a short ceremony, followed by a drinks reception, a seated dinner, and then dancing. Please feel free to bring some comfy shoes to change into!

Question

"Carriages at midnight"?

Answer

Unfortunately there won't be horse-drawn carriages! This is simply an English expression meaning that the event will end at midnight. Please schedule an Uber or pre-book a cab for this time.

Registry

As a transatlantic couple, we know all too well how costly those flights can be! So we mean it when we say: your presence is truly present enough. For those that would still like to buy us a gift, we'd love a contribution to our honeymoon fund, which we're hoping to spend in 2025. UK guests, I know Venmo will likely be difficult! If you'd prefer a bank transfer, our Nationwide details are below: Name: Melanie Florence Smith Acc #: 10636577 Sort code: 07-02-46
