Our story begins where most good things do: trivia night in New Orleans circa 2016. That's where we met, and our team was the scourge of all other music and pop culture fans in the greater Mid-City area. Months later Meghan moved back to her home in Los Angeles and Brent ricocheted (as he is wont to do) back to Colorado. We stayed in touch over the intervening years and even took in some University of Denver hockey (Go Pios!). In 2019 Brent rolled back down the Mississippi River to the Gulf of Mexico and landed happily once again in New Orleans. He took a job having something to do with birds and swamps, as Meghan was taking over the west coast hospitality game. Then came the pandemic. In the weird years of covid America, Meghan and Brent reunited at a legendary Big Easy establishment called the Mayfair while she was in town visiting friends. A crawfish boil followed (as they always do), and they bonded over tacos y margaritas at the Velvet Cactus. After a brief all-points bulletin on the part of her friends and family, she was located safe and sound at what the locals call a "Popsicle Speakeasy" - an absolutely ridiculous event that was half live jazz performance and half summertime picnic, but at night in a Bywater courtyard. Then came an excursion to a lazy river in a Mississippi casino, an evening under the stars at a pirate-themed saloon, and an afternoon kayaking Bayou St. John. After this 10-day movable festival of Gulf Coast revelry, we decided to give this thing a try. Fast forward to the present: a little over four years later. Meghan has moved back to New Orleans to conquer the hospitality game in the Crescent City and Brent is still doing something or other with rivers and... pelicans? I think? In August of 2022 Ginny joined them on their adventures, bringing a goofy personality and love for treats of all kinds to the house on Louisville Street. On May 29, Brent and Meghan took their beloved dog Ginny on a walk in the Coterie Forest in New Orleans' City Park. Despite the oppressive heat and a pack of roving youths on bicycles, Brent managed to get Meghan and Ginny alone on the top of Laborde Lookout, the highest natural point in New Orleans. Utilizing the concrete map of the city, he pointed out key locations on their path to the present day: the Velvet Cactus. The house on Louisville Street. The Mayfair. And today, New Orleans City Park atop old Mount Laborde, where if she'll have him (she will) they will take the next step in their adventure together. Ginny was unimpressed by the entire spectacle. From the hallowed grounds of Jazzfest to skiing the Colorado peaks. From high New Mexico deserts to the cool waters of Catalina Island. From our seats in Yulman Stadium to a Vermont bonfire. The moveable festival spirit continues to be the key element of our adventure together, and we hope that on April 4, 2026, you'll come join the fun in New Orleans. There will be oysters.
