Cyril and Megan met in the late summer of 2018. Cyril, a bartender downtown, and Megan, pre-healthcare / pre-”I don’t know what I am doing with my life, maybe I will move to South America,” found themselves at the same house party by chance. Or was it? Cyril, a shy guy, was pressed to attend the party by a coworker (triksy gremlin?) under the guise that a pretty girl (Megan, duh) was expecting him. Megan, a bit more extroverted but somewhat reluctant to co-host her roommate's birthday party because she had work at 7am the next morning, was told nothing. Of course, Megan was taken by the attention of a tall, dark, and handsome guy she’d never met before. She thought it was cute the way he followed her around the apartment, and gave her eyes across the room. She thought to herself, “dang, this guy must really like me and I’m not even wearing any make-up!” Obviously she said yes when he asked for her phone number later that night. Their first date was a few days later in a little slice of Small Town, Wisconsin (AKA Fraternal Order of Eagles #34 in Seward, Minneapolis). After bringing their drinks outside, they talked well past bar-close without realizing, as they never closed their tab, and were locked outside with their glassware. It was at that time when Cyril remarked “Wow, this has been great! I can’t believe we were set up.” And Megan said, “wait, who were you set up with?” They both looked at each other bewildered, and then laughed when they discovered the hoodwink. Megan and Cyril were kind of inseparable from that moment on. In the past 7 years they lived through new school and job ventures including Megan going to Nursing school, and Cyril preparing to attend PA school this fall. They traveled near and far together including: Baja, Patagonia, France, the Dolomites, Spain, Belize, Duluth, Springfield, Huntington Beach. However, their favorite place in the whole world happens to be in the same neighborhood where they first met: Seward, Minneapolis where they continue to live with their plants and most loyal companions Aldo and Gertie.
