Maycee and Trey met at the Bluegrass Academy in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. After school and on weekends, they would gather there to practice guitar and banjo, eventually being introduced by their music teacher. At the time, Maycee was 15 and Trey was 16. They also attended the same high school and shared many mutual friends — though Trey admits he noticed her long before they were officially introduced. Trey first appeared in her life as a kind and steady presence. From Trey’s perspective, however, he had already developed a quiet crush. What began as friendship — built around music, shared laughter, and time spent together — gradually grew into something deeper. After several months of getting to know one another, their relationship shifted from friendship into young love. Even in those early years, Maycee recognized that Trey was different. It was in the small, consistent gestures — opening car doors, walking her into school, bringing flowers, and showing a level of respect and attentiveness that set him apart. Over time, their relationship has been defined by calmness and steadiness. They describe themselves as opposites who balance each other well, but above all else, best friends. When Trey proposed at The Battery in downtown Charleston, he did so with a few family members and friends nearby — attempting to hide, though not entirely successfully. Maycee suspected something was coming; Trey has never been known for keeping surprises. Still, the moment felt natural — a meaningful next step in a love story that had been unfolding for years. As they look ahead, Maycee and Trey are most excited about building a home together, doing life side by side, and officially becoming “The Hagans.” Their relationship can be summed up in three words: committed, devoted, and loving. They cannot wait to celebrate this next chapter with the people who have supported them from the very beginning.
