The best way to describe our love story is through the “invisible string theory”. This theory suggests that’s the universe keeps two souls apart until the timing is right no matter the distance or circumstances that may be in the way. We both grew up playing high level volleyball where we played the same position and were in the same age group. We then went on to attend rival high schools, share mutual friends, knew who the other person was but were never introduced. As life went on, we both pursued our own passions and careers. Kaeli had accepted a full- time position in Australia working in her field in the Spring of 2023. She was in the process of getting her license switched over and was supposed to permanently move July 18, 2023. Matt on the other- hand was finishing up his university degree in Criminology at UofM and was excited to start his last year of Volleyball in the fall. He and his buddies were planning on playing in the Superspike tournament on July 21, 2023 but their team fell through last minute. A day before the tournament, Matt was invited to jump onto another team so he could still attend. Things ended up taking a lot longer for Kaeli to get all the paperwork and her license sorted out that her departure date was significantly pushed back. Being stuck in the city, she too accepted an offer to attend Superspike with her friends a day before the tournament began. On July 22, 2023 approximately at 10:13pm, we finally had the chance to meet at the Superspike concert. Kaeli was actually looking for someone else at the time but instead bumped into Matt in the crowd. We talked for a bit, exchanged numbers and continued on with their nights separately. The next day Matt texted Kaeli and made plans to go to a Winnipeg Sea Bear’s Game on August 5. Up until that day, we talked constantly and became very good friends. So much so that Matt asked Kaeli to be his girlfriend on their very first date in the parking lot of a beer vendor and they have been inseparable ever since.
