Ceremony on screen

1:00 pm

The Royal Standard
44 Greater, Blackheath, England SE3 7JQ, United Kingdom

We've booked a space for guests not coming to Lambeth Town Hall to gather from 1pm - 3pm. We'll be streaming the ceremony in the pub from 1pm but feel free to join when you can. The good news is The Royal Standard is only a 5 minute 31 second walk to Mycenae House.

Wedding Celebration

3:00 pm

Travel

The Wedding Website of Matthew Doherty and Fiona McIntyre
We call South East London our home, but it is also home to many hotels and AirBnBs. Central Greenwich and Blackheath are about a mile from the venue and easily accessible. We've put together a few recommendations below, but please do send us a message if you want to know more about the area or where to book accommodation.

Hotel

AirBnB in Lewisham, Greenwich, Blackheath, Deptford or Woolwich

AirBnB is probably the most cost effective way to do London. Transport in London is generally highly reliable and Ubers are usually plentiful so hopefully this gives you a few more options to look at for accommodation.

Hotel

ibis London Greenwich

30 Stockwell Street, England SE10 9JN, United Kingdom

Hotel

Innkeeper's Collection Greenwich

292 Greenwich High Road, London, England SE10 8NA, United Kingdom

Hotel

Travelodge London Greenwich High Road

Greenwich High Road, England SE10 8JH, United Kingdom

Hotel

Holiday Inn Express London - Greenwich, an IHG Hotel

Bugsby's Way, England SE10 0GD, United Kingdom

Closer to North Greenwich but not much in the immediate 10-15 minute vicinity. On the edge of a main road, may be busy if there's an event/concert at the O2.

Hotel

The Station (Hotel)

14 Staplehurst Road, England SE13 5NB, United Kingdom

Can vouch for the pub, this is near where the happy couple live!

Flight

London airports

For those making the journey across the Irish Sea or from even further afield, we are excited to share our little bit of London with you. London is really well-connected and there are five airports to choose from. Technically London City Airport is the closest but this also comes with higher ticket prices. We would recommend Gatwick as it quickly accessible going to our from South London with only one train change required. You should be able to reach Greenwich or Blackheath in under an hour via train. Heathrow is in the west of the city and it's HUGE. It's not one we use often but is really well-linked via tube or rail. Luton Airport is the dark horse, very simple to get southeast London from Luton. One shuttle train to Luton station, train to London Bridge and then find your connection. Journey time one-way of about 90 minutes. Offers decent value and additional flight options you might not have considered. Finally Stansted, travel from Stansted takes a little more time with train - tube - train to reach us. It is doable in 90 minutes to 2 hours but not as easy as the other 4 airports. Good choice if you're staying in central London.

FAQs

Question

Gifts and contributions :)

Answer

We are so grateful to have you join us on our special day. Your presence alone is a huge gift for us. However, if you do wish to give us something more, we would appreciate contributions towards our honeymoon and other essentials as we start life as a married couple (although if you have something specific in mind that you’d like to give us, that would be lovely too!). We’re collecting contributions here or we'll have a postbox on the day: Name: Matthew Doherty Sort: 04-00-04 Account number: 36089233 Thank you so much!

Question

Where is the wedding?

Answer

The best city on earth, London! Specifically, South East London. More specifically, Mycenae house in Greenwich.

Question

What time is the wedding?

Answer

It depends... the ceremony will be taking place earlier in the day at Lambeth Registry office. Because the room is quite small, we can't have many guests for the official ceremony. If you're required in Lambeth, we'll let you know separately. Guests not going to Lambeth Town Hall will have an area booked in the The Royal Standard Pub, SE3 7JQ. But the BIG celebration will happen at Mycenae and will start from 3pm.

Question

Are children invited?

Answer

We love all the little ones in our lives, but for our big day, we’re keeping things just for the grown-ups. We want this to be a special time for our friends and family to relax, have fun, and celebrate without distractions. So, we kindly ask you to make arrangements for your children to stay at home. We know this may take a bit of planning, and we’re so grateful for your understanding and flexibility. We hope you enjoy this “date night” of sorts – a chance to dress up, enjoy a delicious meal, and dance the night away with us!

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

Honestly, we don't care :) The bride will be wearing white and the groom will be wearing a suit. We just want you to feel comfortable so wear what suits you.

Question

How do I get to the venue?

Answer

It depends where you are coming from, but the closest rail station is Westcombe Park. It's about a 10-minute walk (uphill there and downhill back). If you are travelling by car, we won't have parking available at Mycenae House but there is parking on the surrounding road. Check out the Mycenae house website for some more details. You can certainly walk to the venue from Greenwich (possibly not in heels) and there are some great views from the observatory platform if you plan a route through Greenwich Park. For full info on accessing the venue, see this page: https://mycenaehouse.co.uk/about/find-us/#:~:text=Alight%20at%20the%20Kirkside%20Road,on%20the%20right%20hand%20side.

Question

Where can I stay?

Answer

There's plenty of choice in the Greenwich-Blackheath area and we've added a few places to the accommodation section of the website. If you find anywhere on AirBnB and want a bit more local info from us, just send us a message. If you're looking at an Airbnb and aren't too sure about the location, feel free to WhatsApp us and we'll give you a friendly yayy or nay on the locals.

Question

What time does it end?

Answer

Officially, the venue says music finishes at '11pm' but if we're charming, we might squeeze in a few more tunes. However, there are a few quieter and not-so-quiet options for those guest looking to continue celebrating into the wee hours.

Question

What's the food?

Answer

HOG ROAST! Easy, hearty food for the afternoon. There will of course be options for the vegetarians and vegans among our lovely guests.

Question

What if I have dietary requirements?

Answer

We don't want anyone to go hungry so please, please, please let us know as part of the RSVP.

Question

Will anything be happening the day before or after?

Answer

Great question. There's nothing in the diary for the Friday, but if guests have arrived we'll find somewhere locally for a pint. On Sunday (and on the first day of our new lives together!) we'll be organising a meet up at a watering hole. It'll be from mid-afternoon and it's a 'feel free to join whenever' vibe. Absolutely no pressure to join us on the second day and we'll tell you more closer to the date. For now, just focus on the 26th.

That's all folks... for now
