Kayla and Matt met in October of 2020 at a Browns tailgating party. Don't ask us who the Browns were playing that day...we were a little distracted. That day since, Matt had made it known that he had a crush on Kayla and asked if Kayla would be coming over for more Browns watch parties. Fast forward to New Year's Eve, Kayla and Matt we're each other's New Year's kisses and they exchanged numbers. After a week or two of texting back and forth, Kayla and Matt decided to go on their first date in Little Italy to settle who had the best pizza in Cleveland. Kayla and Matt were equally nervous, but the nerves quickly went away after they discovered how much they had in common and how easy it was to talk to one another. After playing hard to get, Kayla finally asked Matt to make things official on April 6, 2021. They met each other's families soon after and the rest is history. A couple of months later, they decided to move in together in Lakewood. And a year later, they bought their first home in Westpark and they have been busy with home renovation projects since. On May 4, 2024, Matt and Kayla had plans to go to a Kentucky Derby Party. Matt thought this would be a great excuse to get Kayla to dress up and pop the question. Since they had some time to spare before the party started, Matt asked Kayla to go to Lakewood Park to walk around. Matt stopped in front of the Solstice Steps and got down one knee. Kayla couldn't say yes quickly enough. Their families were hiding behind the steps and popped up as an added surprise. They went out to celebrate the engagement with dinner and drinks.
