Jake and Masha’s journey began in the BRH Choir at Baylor University, where their paths first intertwined. As they sang worship songs and choral arrangements, prayed together, and performed in churches, they saw in each other a rare sincerity and unwavering faith. In quiet moments after rehearsals, their conversations—though brief—held a quiet significance. As graduation approached, both carried a quiet hope that their relationship, built on admiration and genuine connection, would continue to flourish beyond the Baylor campus.
Following their graduation, Jake and Masha—like many fellow Baylor Bears—embarked on a new chapter in the vibrant Dallas-Fort Worth area, where Jake began his career at Oncor Electric Delivery and Masha at Matador Resources Company. Amid the excitement of their professional pursuits and life in a new city, they found solace and community at The Porch, a young adult Christian ministry in Dallas. Alongside friends from Baylor University, they gathered in faith, fostering connections that would not only deepen their spiritual lives but also weave together a love story built on trust, devotion, and reliance on God’s beautiful provision for them.
Whether gathered for game nights or worship services, their time together deepened their friendship more and more. In the beginning of Fall they joined the choir at FBC Keller. Spending time together after rehearsals and singing at church services allowed them to get to know each other even better. Late-night drives between Dallas and Fort Worth left them sleepless, yet time seemed to pause when they were together. And each goodbye only deepened their longing for the next hello. What began as friendship had flourished into something far greater—a love that felt effortless and beautifully guided by God’s hand.
The Friday evening was very warm and the sunset was so beautiful as Jake picked up Masha to go to their first date at Brio Italian Grille Restaurant. Over the wonderful dinner, conversation felt both new and familiar. As they walked around the Southlake Town Square, hand in hand, the world around them seemed to fade. In the quiet moments of love, they felt the gentle presence of God—a silent reassurance that their journey was just beginning, a journey they prayed to walk with Him at the center of their love.
Jake planned a special sunrise proposal for Masha in Camryn Park, Waco. As they strolled before church, they reached a quiet spot on the trail that held deep meaning for them. She turned—only to find Jake holding a beautiful ring. With love and faith, he asked her to be his wife, to follow Christ side by side, running the race together. Her answer was: Yes, yes, yes—a million times yes!
