We met on the beach one of our first few weeks at UC Santa Barbara. Mary immediately had her eye on Greg but tried to play it cool and casual...
Fast forward a couple months and we had become friends. One particular weekend, some of our friends were going on a double date and Mary asked if they could invite Greg and have her tag along too. So, Mary tricked Greg into a triple date (when he thought it was just a group hanging out) and it was a success! We spent the entire weekend together - first to dinner at Joe's Cafe in downtown Santa Barbara, then a concert on campus, the beach, and even a trip to Costco (still one of our favorite joint activities). After that weekend we were pretty much inseparable.
After spending the weekend in LA with Greg's family, we stopped on the beach in Santa Monica to watch the sunset. It was here that Greg popped the question and both of us completely blacked out and have no idea what was said (leading us to think of "proposal blackout" as a medical condition). Nevertheless, Mary said yes and here we are!
In the middle of COVID, we were lucky that we were able to head home to California and have our civil ceremony in Greg's parents backyard. Our immediate families were there and his dad married us!
