Our love story is a modern one. Despite growing up in the same Louisiana town and attending the same school, Tyler and Olivia didn't get to know each other until Olivia was studying abroad in Italy in 2014, and Tyler sent her a Facebook message. For 30 years, I have lived as a Martzell. My late mother gave me her last name when I entered this world, and I carry my surname in great pride as it represents a legacy I aim to continue. Before my mother passed in 2013, I knew that defending my history and legacy as a Martzell was deeply important to me, thus, I realized that keeping my surname was paying respect to my familial history and most importantly, to myself. Respectfully, I ask that everyone please recognize that despite getting married, legally and socially, I will remain Ms. Olivia Martzell. -O
